Anyone know how long it will take for construction on the arena to be completed from the point when shovels finally hit the ground? I notice a lot of construction projects take forever in this city and I’m worried it will take a really long time to build this downtown arena. Is 3-4 years a realistic timeline?

I was expecting 6-7 years from the mou announcement so that puts us around 5 from now. Another year to year and a half to get shovels in the ground and as you said 4 years to actually build the thing with a half year to year for the usual Ottawa delays. Basically hoping for the beginning of the 2028-29 season to be downtown with delays pushing the move into that season or even to the beginning of the following season.

Construction for Rogers Place, home of the Oiler started in March 2014, and officially opened on September 8, 2016.

lol. Of the many inaccurate things you post this may be both the most wrong, and also the funniest in its wrongness as not only did he not become acquainted with operations and personnel, he famously fired literally half of Twitter staff 3 weeks after the ink dried.
He then subsequently scrambled to correct his rash idiocy by attempting to re-hire tons of them.

You literally could have used the Musk example to make precisely the opposite argument - that rashness led to foolishness.
So I guess you could not comment on main substance of my post, comparing the the two approaches I outlined.... perhaps you agreed with them?

so you decided to only comment on what I clearly said was "not a perfect comparison" .... how many points was that worth?

The first two paragraphs were obvious yet still flawed/biased in the assumptions you were making while your last paragraph was made up nonsense.
Hope that helps.

As far as I know, the ground (or at least part of it) is still contaminated. And I'm not entirely sure if they even how how badly it's contaminated (did they doo the digging to find out yet?). Cleaning that up will add to the timeline.

Parliament was contemplating constructing a new building at Bank/Wellington for House of Commons committees and some Senate stuff. I have heard that the ground was so contaminated and cleaning the site so expensive that the idea was shelved. I think the estimate was in the $50-100M range just for clean up.

Bieber just sold his catalogue to a Blackstone portco for a cool $200mm.

Loading up that dry powder.

I think we hear about a sale being done during the deadline.
That gives new ownership enough time until the draft to put their people in charge of the hockey ops.
I think once a new owner is selected, the existing executive would likely listen carefully to what they might say about team staffing (contract extensions, firings, hirings, etc.) and player personnel (player trades, contract signings) issues and take careful actions that reflect the desires of the new owners (even though the ownership agreement might not have been signed and ownership transfer not completed). For example, trades made by the GM might require higher executive approval which would allow for consultation with the new owner before proceeding, and new staff (coaches, scouts, etc.) could be treated similarly.

Just have loads of plant based options. Its suited for everyone's dietary needs.

I loved having smokes poutine at CTC since I could have a dope loaded fries!
Raw carrots for the veggie crowd! :)

The entire site has been decontaminated already. That was all done at the same time a few years ago. That's why Claridge is able to have a crane on site right now, the library is being built, the LRT stations, the new buildings for affordable housing that were just approved next to the LRT station (that developer would not agree to build affordable housing units and absorb the cost of decontamination) it's all been done now.

In terms of timeline on a purchase of this scale, we just had a recent example:

• Robert Sarver announced he would sell the Phoenix Suns on Sept 21st
• Matt Ishbia agreed "in principle" to purchase the team on December 20th
• The deal is expected to close, and he will take full control, by February 9th

So the process from the deal announcement to close took 51 days. From sale announcement to close took 141 days.

We're currently at day 81 in our process.

Now that bids are officially coming in things will accelerate. I think it's highly likely new ownership is in place with control by the mid-end of March.

That sounds amazing but is it actually true?

Gary Bettman sold a first over all draft pick in 2023 to the new ownership. Take it with a grain of salt. But it is what it is. Just remember this post.
First time I have ever been happy with one of your posts but its about as likely as the rest of your conspiracy theories. How upset will you be when they dont pick Michkov? Seeing how its a done deal and all.

Thats and absolute best case scenario. Having dealt with estate sales and probate I doubt this is how fast this transaction takes place. Especially considering I am hearing the debt is between 300 and 400 million.

Size of the debt shouldn't really matter tbh unless there are really messy prepayment mechanics (hopefully not).

This sale is happening outside of probate, no? I assume the team and all related assets already passed to his daughters.

See I am not sure about any of it, if the debt isnt messy and its already in the girls names then yes that shouldnt matter. I just dont know.

Yeah we really don't have much info here.

Capital markets are also extremely disrupted and likely will get worse before they get better. That will slow things down considerably as no one is buying this team cash.

lol how could he even guarantee that when the season is far from over and therefore the standings still to be determined? Not to mention officials bids are only now being made. So logically, how could he guarantee such a thing and to whom? Also, even if hypothetically we got 1st overall, that doesn't validate the claim in this post.
