No matter which group buys the Senators, they’re expected to try to engage in a partnership with local businessman Jeff York.

York, a former chief executive officer of Farm Boy, brought together a group of Ottawa business people who want to be involved in the franchise.

We’re also told York has raised more than $100 million from a group of 20 local investors at $5 million each to be a part of whichever bid won the bidding war.

The belief is York’s representatives have spoken to all the groups in the process because they believe it’s important to have local representation.

Part of their goal is to get the business community re-engaged with the Senators and they feel supporting the new owner is a strong step.

White is your proof, he doesn’t even know the rules, when he posts this.

I think it's only seven of the owners that have to agree on something to have something pass. You'd think it'd be at least 50%. It just doesn't seem like they're running a democratic process,

Lol White has it ass backwards. Similar to your math earlier.

Gary Bettman is amazing for hockey. Mario Lemiux retired because he didn’t want to play hockey the way Bettman let it played. The greatest player to ever have a puck on his stick walked away from the game because Bettman let goons beat up on stars.

And the final 4 this year - everyone is so excited. Woman’s college basketball outdrew any NHL hockey event ever aired in the USA - he’s doing a great job

Yep I’m excited for the final 4,

Funny you quoted me, when my 2 points were, why would you post an incorrect White article, and poor math. But failed to comment on that,
so we can assume you now agree.

That was a pretty pathetic time in hockey in general leading up to his last retirement.

The year the Penguins lit the league on fire offensively and then were trapped to death in the playoffs by the most boring dynasty in NHL history, the New Jersey Devils.

Just awful hockey from an entertainment standpoint and almost had me turning away from the sport in general. The ending felt like if Palpatine had succeeded, Vader killed Luke, and the credits rolled. The bad guys won and didn't even have fun doing it.

Alexei Yashin having Shayne Corson wrapped around him like his dads strap in the basement for a whole series is another example of the garbage we used to have to watch. The changes the league has made since are great from my seat on the couch and I'm sure most players are happy with it.

Not sure why Mendes teased us yesterday saying he had "very interesting text exchanges", but nothing notable was said in his article.

I think this, re: the $1B bidder, is pretty notable:

"The sense from people involved is that Andlauer was always reluctant to get to that number, feeling like the valuation for the franchise simply wasn’t at that point. People close to the sale process felt like it was going to be a stretch even to get Andlauer to the $900 million mark, so it’s unlikely his was the top bid. The Sparks group, meanwhile, purportedly submitted a $925 million bid during the non-binding tender process a few weeks ago. The belief is that Sparks’ latest bid has come in around that same mark — maybe a touch higher — but they are not necessarily the ones who topped the $1 billion plateau."

It's also possible that Jeff York's consortium ($100 mil) has a handshake deal that they'll join if Andlauer gets the team, which would make his bid comparable to the others. Jason York really seems to be talking up Andlauer every chance he gets on Brent Wallace's podcast,.

My rankings of potential owners from the limited knowledge I have gathered since this process started.

1. Steve Apostolopolous
- F U Money.
- Need to go over the salary cap by playing with LTIR by 10M? Shouldn't be a problem.
- Rebuilding in 10 years from now and you can acquire bad contracts for 1st rounders? Pocket change.

2. Kimmels Ft The Weekend
- Prior history working with a sucesfull franchise.
- One of the most well known faces on the planet as a promoter for the hockey team.
- Deep enough pockets to fight with the top teams.

-- tier drop

3. Andluaer
- Seems he is the most financially aware person in this process which isn't a bad thing but I have too much PTSD watching a owner pinch pennies and lose players due to budgetary reasons.
- He has experience around the game like kimmels but again owning a CHL team gives me more Melnyk PTSG that this guy isn't meant for this league.

--- tier drop
4. Sparks
- Not local like the other options
- Snoop will be cool but no one cares about snoop he is over saturated and involved in everything for this to be considered something special
- Lots of questions and sketchy/lack of history

---- tier drop

---- tier drop

------- tier drop
z. Eugene Melnyk

if any group can add Reynolds they move up a tier.

Ya odd, seems like that bid would make them third or fourth.
I wonder how much of the team he will own. He’ll obviously be a majority shareholder but there’s the Melnyks (10%), Jeff York’s local consortium (10%), then there’s the Reynolds possibility and Andlauer has had conversations with the Malhotras (Claridge) who could also get a stake.

Oh I'm all over the place lol.

The Stones, Foo Fighters, Newton Faulkner, Joe Bonamassa, Dire Straits, Tommy Emmanuel, Eminem, Outkast, Collective Soul, Big Wreck, Tom Petty, Tom Cochrane and Red Rider, AC/DC, Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Kenny Wayne Shepard, Johnny Cash, Jeff Healy, CCR, The Guess Who, Great Big Sea, Elton John, Darius Rucker, Stone Temple Pilots, Peter Gabriel/Genesis..

Too many I'm forgetting! Lol
Nice list, not sure what's the most surprising band on the list but I definitely wasn't expecting anyone to list Tommy Emanuel.
