My rankings of potential owners from the limited knowledge I have gathered since this process started.

1. Steve Apostolopolous
- F U Money.
- Need to go over the salary cap by playing with LTIR by 10M? Shouldn't be a problem.
- Rebuilding in 10 years from now and you can acquire bad contracts for 1st rounders? Pocket change.

2. Kimmels Ft The Weekend
- Prior history working with a sucesfull franchise.
- One of the most well known faces on the planet as a promoter for the hockey team.
- Deep enough pockets to fight with the top teams.

-- tier drop

3. Andluaer
- Seems he is the most financially aware person in this process which isn't a bad thing but I have too much PTSD watching a owner pinch pennies and lose players due to budgetary reasons.
- He has experience around the game like kimmels but again owning a CHL team gives me more Melnyk PTSG that this guy isn't meant for this league.

--- tier drop
4. Sparks
- Not local like the other options
- Snoop will be cool but no one cares about snoop he is over saturated and involved in everything for this to be considered something special
- Lots of questions and sketchy/lack of history

---- tier drop

---- tier drop

------- tier drop
z. Eugene Melnyk

if any group can add Reynolds they move up a tier.

The only red flag about Apostolopoulos is that he's, apparently, being advised by Nick Kypreos on hockey matters...

Steve Apostolopolous just seems to be throwing money around all the Big 4 leagues trying to secure any sports team. He was also on the fence about actually bidding until yesterday.

Unless the number he's offering is just miles ahead of everyone else's, I don't really see it happening. There doesn't seem to be much rapport with him and the league.

Seems a bit like it.

The Melnyk family retaining 10% of the team will impact who they choose. While they obviously want to maximize the price, they also need to gauge who's going to be the best owner and grow the value of the team moving forward. They stand to make even more money in the next 10, 20, or even 30, years. They're still just in their early 20's...

They got the donuts? Excellent....
Idk man, did Reynolds and his team have anything to do with the F1 series that is insanely popular for a sport that is waaaaay more niche than soccer globally? Would WtW be as popular as it was had the F1 series not paved the way?

Why are you assuming a Reynolds documentary about our team will be as compelling or globally popular as WtW is? The baseline global popularity of hockey isn't even in the same conversation as soccer. And why assume that another creative team couldn't follow the model that wtw set out? Or maybe it really is just about Ryan and Rob leading it. What if it was really Rob that drove people to the series and not Ryan if that's the case?

Whatever your opinion, maybe the more relevant point I should have made is: a documentary isn't gonna change the product on the ice, or the success the team has. So to have a preferred owner based on their ability to be an executive producer is missing the forest for the trees.

So you've given up on your previous narrative that any celebrity can create a tv documentary to help popularize the Senators if they have the money and inclination and now you believe that even Ryan Reynolds can't do it? Quite the 180 you're pulling there.

You also seem oblivious that if Reynolds could turn the Senators into the next Wrexham that it could make the franchise more attractive for free agents, both players and coaching/management. Plus, the league might give us an easier schedule, like they tend to do for their preferred franchises.

And note when I say could it does not mean that I believe it will happen, just that it is a distinct possibility. That word seems to have tripped you up previously.

So you have concerns about Audlauer bc of Melnyk PTSD but the only correlation between the two is that both owned OHL teams? Sorry but that’s funny

Not surprising.

For those unfamiliar with them, some of the other businesses in which the Kimel's are prominent investors in are Ace Hill Beverage, Spin Co, Shake Shack, Planta, New City Gas (in Montreal), Jiffy On Demand (we've all heard the radio hits...) and Pandora Jewelery.

But Front Office Sports reported Monday one of the bids “submitted was structured in a way that could lead to issues with its viability.”
It’s not known which bid that was, but the story noted there were questions that needed to be dealt to move the bid forward. If those can’t be resolved, that bidder will be dismissed in short order.

Nice list, not sure what's the most surprising band on the list but I definitely wasn't expecting anyone to list Tommy Emanuel.

He deserves more attention than he gets that's for sure. Their is a reason the greats talk about him as the best guitarist on the planet.

I don't think we should hold out any hope for Reynolds joining the winning bid. Feels like that was never part of his plan. He wants to be a part of the full group, not a shiny celebrity piece tacked on in the end and expected to do the marketing legwork for everyone else.

Depends how much of a stake Andluer is willing to give up. We know Reynolds has about 200-400 mil + intagible assets. If he gets a 25% stake in the sens that should be big enough for him.

From the sounds of it, Andlauer isn’t at the $1B mark. Rumours say it’s Apostolopolous .

So Bettman may try an arranged marriage here. Reynolds brings the cash he was going to put in with his bid over and gets Andlauer’s bid closer to $1B. Maybe he’ll need that extra $100M…

I don't know....we're talking celebrities and billionaires...all with big egos. I don't think an arranged marriage would work here.

Andlauer will probably get Jeff York’s 100 mil investment and possibly the Malhotras on board.

I heard Andlauer said no to Reynolds early. Also heard about the Desmarias rumour at the same time so I kind of believe it

Is this true? I read that Ryan Reynolds and Andlauer did meet up atleast once before Reynolds picked the Remington group.

Hard to see a massive sale price with lebreton seemingly out of the picture due to the land claim and ncc, can't imagine any reasonable business person engaging with that nonsense. Sucks the media hyped Reynolds for so long and I loved the doc he made but at the end of the day, frankly my only wish is an owner that craves a Stanley Cup for their team, Andlauer with Malhotra support is what I'm anticipating...not as sexy as Reynolds but feel the local ties benefit the Sens in the end.
