Anyone got a gif or vid of the Kempe interference penalty everyone is crying over? when it happened it looked like he stuck out his leg to stop the Finnish player, kneeing, interference, call what u like, but it seemed legit at the time, althou I only saw it quickly so might have seen wrong

Come on now. Nylander is better than Pulju, Laine and Aho at this point.

hahah

nylander didn't do anything in the game... total no show.

Pulju laine aho and the next level

Finland had so much more depth in the system, even sweden tried to shootout and trap they had no chance..

finland has so much more quality, sweden was bunch of grinders

It's all refs fault and Finns are ugly. What else?

What do you call Koskenkorva in a white bowl?

-Finnish wintersoup

Oh snap! That's right your all alcoholics! :sarcasm:

Why is no one even mentioning Kähkönen? Not many flashy saves, but looked hella solid this game. First time this tournament I haven't felt nervous every time the opposing team brought the puck into our zone.

He was good, though he let up a lot of rebounds that a fiercer side would have capitalized on. He'll have to improve even further if Finland is to win gold, especially if it's the Americans they face in the final.

Are you for real?! ofc Nylander dident do anything in this game he wasent even playing:facepalm:

I am not a Swede. It doesn't make a lick of difference what Nylander was doing. It is still an illegal check to the head. The rest of it is just victim blaming.

There is always the possibility of pulling the martyr card after the victim is blamed for a bad decision as well. Especially if you use that as an excuse for a loss in the same tournament. In that hit Nylander took the risk of "speeding 20mph too much" when the Egli "crashed to him under alcohol". You take a risk, and the unprobable can happen some day. Thats the way of life. Dont take the risk if you are not ready.

You might be not a swede, but you are an obvious TML fan as you just had to start the nylandebation here. Only swedes and tml fans do that.

Congrats Finland. Well deserved and hope you go all the way. My team didnt show up in the third unfortunately and you guys were in control all the way.

Bad calls will happen but the better team won so no point in pointing fingers towards the refs.

(I'm swedish but living in Paris hence the french flag)

One thing Finnish players is the best in the world at is that they always seen to outdo themselves in the national teams and the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. Very impressive.

That's mostly on coaching. It probably comes from the fact that we will never have the depth of Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden. That has forced us to really focus on the process of tournament and how to approach it. Also on the tactical and mental side of coaching.

By the way that gets way too little credit in Finland. Most fans don't seem to understand the high level of Finnish coaching at the top.

All this talk about the refs, but the Swedes still scored only once. That's not on the refs.

But Finland scoring their 2-1 IS on the refs. Who knows what game it could have been otherwise.

What a thriller! Thanks Swedish fans for being classy excluding trolls. Every country has them.

Laine-Aho-Puljujärvi was very closely guarded but thankfully we have Rantanen, Kapanen, Kalapudas, Saarela and others. Very deep forward corp.

Finland played well.
Sweden played bad.
Finland got the refs and the calls on their side.

Finland deserved to win. But without the weak calls they would have had too work a lot harder for that win.

Normally, yes.

Unfortunately after our loss on Sunday our kids did some real crying on the interviews.....Strome, Marner, and Virtanen especially.

Well, they are young guys with all that incredible pressure you get in Canada - but I saw for example an interview by Konecny (such a great player and bizarrely underused in the tournament) where he sounded like absolutely balanced and intelligent.

Why would you never be able to match the Swedish depth, though? You have just as many (more) registered players and, unlike Sweden, hockey is without a doubt the number one sport in Finland. Feels like the youth development system is the culprit.

agreed 100%

and your right, the Konecny interview (and his playing) were both top notch.

Nice try. I am a Hawks fan. I just said that the Swedes missed Nylander before you felt the need to spaz out. No where did I use that as an excuse for Sweden's loss. I simply said they were unlucky, which they were. I am done talking to you. Maybe you once you have calmed down from watching the game, you will actually start to talk sense.

Dude, Finland was the team wearing blue in this one.

Swedes were able to shut down Pulju-Aho-Laine -line but thankfully Rantanen's line stepped up. Finland improved their play through the game as they have during the whole tournament and even though Swedes got some questionable penalties, they weren't able to play better in the 3rd period which is why they lost.

Good luck to the bronze game!
