They just did an interview with Linus Söderström and it just broke my heart, the guy was devastated and even blamed himself which is the last thing he should do, he's been amazing and one of the best players in the whole tournament and there was nothing he could do on either of those goals and he couldn't be to blamed for the rest of the team not playing well either becuase even after those two goals he still kept Sweden in it and made some unreal saves. No, I'd say while the rest of the team didn't deserve to win I'd say he did but there wasn't much more he could do than he already did. Oh well, Finland was the better game overall tonight and they earned the win, now let's hope Sweden can pull it together before tomorrow and win bronze.

Nice try. I am a Hawks fan. I just said that the Swedes missed Nylander before you felt the need to spaz out. No where did I use that as an excuse for Sweden's loss. I simply said they were unlucky, which they were. I am done talking to you. Maybe you once you have calmed down from watching the game, you will actually start to talk sense.

I formed the opinion after seeing the hit on the first place, it has nothing to do with the events of this game. But I agree with you that its better for the sake of both of us to end this conversation.

What did Kempe say after the game?

I couldn't stand seeing the finnish team and fans celebrate so I turned it off with a couple of seconds left

Anyone got a gif or vid of the Kempe interference penalty everyone is crying over? when it happened it looked like he stuck out his leg to stop the Finnish player, kneeing, interference, call what u like, but it seemed legit at the time, althou I only saw it quickly so might have seen wrong

He tried to stop the puck with his leg and ended up "kneeing" finnish player. Very unlucky but gave the ref a chance to penalize him..

That's mostly on coaching. It probably comes from the fact that we will never have the depth of Canada, USA, Russia, Sweden. That has forced us to really focus on the process of tournament and how to approach it. Also on the tactical and mental side of coaching.

By the way that gets way too little credit in Finland. Most fans don't seem to understand the high level of Finnish coaching at the top.

There are actually equal number of registered hockey players in Finland and Sweden, so there is no reason we should *never* have the same depth as they do. We just like to think ourselves as underdogs, not as one of the ice hockey giants. Swedes just simply have done better job at junior coaching, processing top talent individuals. Except for the goalies, of course. Finnish goaltender coaching has been possibly best in the world.

It is great that Finnish players play their best team play at national team, and that they can often succeed better than expected in the big tournaments, but there is no reason we shouldn't also be able to produce top talents. We have 2nd most players per capita after Canada, and there are ice hockey arena's in every little village.

You had a great point about coaching at the end.

Why would you never be able to match the Swedish depth, though? You have just as many (more) registered players and, unlike Sweden, hockey is without a doubt the number one sport in Finland. Feels like the youth development system is the culprit.

It's unreasonable to expect to be as good as the Swedish master race.

Yeah, we really should ignore the tabloid trash on both sides of the gulf - it's pure crap and click ******* and no regard and respect whatsoever for the game itself. Sweden is a great hockey nation and they do understand the game, we shouldn't get drawn into that shameless trash journalism.

Had no idea that Kähkönen saved the last point shot, damn Yle with their crappy cameras

So, when does the new "Den Glider In" video will be available ?

Do we have to wait after the final to avoid jinxing the Lions ?

Swedish keeper was the best player in the team. Maybe the best keeper in the whole tournament. Solid play.

Swedes were able to shut down Pulju-Aho-Laine -line but thankfully Rantanen's line stepped up.

Yep great effort by the Swedes there. The line had some scoring chances but nothing like the previous games, however the depth of the spearhed in the Finnish team finally showed, better late than never.

Still, I'm much more amazed by that defensive effort from the Finnish side. 3rd period was easily the best, most balanced they have played in the tournament.

Damn, he didn't even see the puck. Looked the other direction, and just happened to take it on his shoulder/arm. That was a lot closer than I thought.

Now I feel even worse. :help:

Good guy Laine.

He's 100% right. Nice to see him being humble.

Thanks for the Swedes. Once again, you guys made my evening a thriller. This time, it ended up in smiles. But every so often it ends up in tears. Love your team and love when our guys play against you!

Good luck for the next game.

The Swedish team looked a tad on the slow side today but kept it together "ok" until those phantom penalties. After that they looked confused and lost their game. There is little doubt finland looked better overall but without those penalties Finland would have struggled to win.

The swedish team got to few high end forwards. Players like Kempe, Holmström and W. Nylander were supposed to give this team the edge needed to win and none of them lived up to that (for different reasons). In the end A. Nylander and Timashov were the ones the team relied on to win it for them, which simply isnt good enough.

I guess Swedish hockey manages to create great team players out of a limited supply of talent but we simply lacks high end talent on the forward side which is needed to win tournaments like this.

Best of luck in the final! Hope Finland will win it (and actually deserve the gold this time) ;)

No no don't do this.

I didn't like the 2+10 penalty on swedish player, but Juolevi was a bit shaken up so I don't know how it really went down. Overall, I think the better team won. No matter what happens in the game but at the dying moments (last period, one down) you shoot 3 times on the net it's not enough to win.

The kids line didn't do much today because swedes were so good at defense but nice to see Rantanen being a great force in a game like this.

Glad that Jalonen pulled Vehviläinen against Canada ...

Söderström was really solid. Without him we could have scored a couple of more goals.
