Kudos to the refs for not making any of the garbage calls we usually see in this tournament. Pretty much only called the obvious which is great on knockout games.

I just wish the talent level between the two teams was a little closer.

But anyway. Even you have the best team (which will most probably win the gold medal) in the tournament doesn’t mean it’s just fine all the referees are Canadians.

Definitely disappointing for a player who's supposed to be NHL ready. Doesn't drive the play at all.

Not sure if that's Byfield's strength. I know he's pretty quick in a straight line but he's more of a terror once the team is established in the zone.

If you watch the number of shifts where the puck stays in the opposing zone while Byfield is on the ice, it gives you an appreciation of his impact.

Cozens has been the most impressive player for team Canada to me. Actually seems like a high hockey IQ player, at least moreso than I for whatever reason was expecting. One player who on the other hand has not impressed me is Quinn. And also Byfield, who doesn't look like a star at all. Byfield is one player amongst many and more like a passanger, Definitely disappointing for a player who's supposed to be NHL ready. Doesn't drive the play at all.

Pretty sure LA was not planning on him being in the league for a couple of years.

I think so.

Byfield is a bit misleading because of his loping skating style but he goes to the busy areas and makes plays.

Zary has been more of a perimeter player IMO.

So does Zary. And neither have scored much.

I thought the same about Askarov before this tournament, but he looks extremely raw. Levi is dead solid.

Short tournament. Askarov has played very well in the KHL already. Struggling again at the WJC is a bit of a concern but his talent is still undeniable.

I would say that this Russian team lacks the experience in Subway series, playing weak Euroleague opponents doesn't really help.

Good game from team Canada. Very fast team this yeah, and Levi is pretty good. Don't see how FIN/US can really compete with this team.
