Decent enough of a try, but a bit too simplistic of a look, imho.

Also, I'm not sure if highlighting one of the most unpopular climate feature in a market is necessarily the best branding idea for a team. It'd be like calling a team the Buffalo Blizzards or the California Droughts or the Miami Humidity.

Worked for Tampa Bay.

For a concept I like it. Its original. Too many times on here we read people *****ing about how the NHL doesn't have enough variety with its color schemes. Now someone comes along and posts a very original idea and what happens? People start *****ing once again.

Oh and for those of you that said just use the Supersonics, its been my understanding that if Seattle brings back another NBA team which they are actively trying to do, they retain the rights of the Supersonic branding.

Seriously? The 'Rain'?

Maybe just cut to the chase and call them Seattle Seasonal Affective Disorder

It's my family name.. (not my actual name) but I use it as my pseudonym for my art/music projects

Nice Moniker and homage to the family...

I give you credit for taking the time to put this together and having the kahunas to post it here. Hopefully you get more constructive criticism then straight up criticism.

I see what you're trying to do with the 'R' and it's interesting, but it needs to be refined. As far as the name, it can go either way. As other's mentioned there are PLENTY of team names that refer to natural phenomenon such as the Avalanche, Hurricanes, Bolts and it isn't a deal breaker. I think it can work if you package the concept strategically.

A Seattle team should include the space needle (in some form) in their image, not as the main logo but perhaps a shoulder patch or alt. logo.

With the climate, outdoors, and other certain things specific to the state of Washington you could call them the Seattle Green......

and Colorado. and Carolina. Although I still think of Miami when I think of a Hurricanes team.

How about the Seattle Joe's since they are famous for their coffee? Use those brown Mammoth concepts except the logo can be either some coffee beans or a giant latte.

I don't think the Seattle Reign would be very happy about this name. I also don't like it. It doesn't rain as much as people think it does. The weather is actually quite nice 95% of the year.

Not that I really care, but the point of this thread is to discuss my concept.. not sure why people are posting other possible team names and have nothing relevant to say about the concept posted, but whatever

Hurricanes, Avalanche, Lightning.. what are your thoughts there?

Nice work Sub! I do think the color scheme is a little too "arctic" for me though. Gotta incorporate some green in there somewhere IMHO

Yeah, I see that now.. I probably could've put more thought into the color scheme.

J
Seattle Sound (Again, referring to music, and also possibly nearby Puget Sound? Just throwing that one out there)

Seattle Sounders is already an MLS team. I actually love that name though personally.

Of all the nameplate choices...

As said before its a family name I use for various projects.. Also my nickname throughout high school.

cool concept but it sounds like a WNBA team

There are a few mentions of this in this thread.. Is there some sort of misogynistic joke I am missing here?

Absolutely awful.

Absolutely Constructive

I am not a big fan of hard to quantify plurals or non-plurals. Just sayin'. I do really like how it looks though.

Seattle Showers
Seattle Downpours
Seattle Drizzle (I know I broke my own rule here)
Seattle Reins

I'm actually the opposite, I love names that aren't plural, not that I mind plurals.. but I just like the outside of the box kind of naming.

Wild
Avalanche
Lightning

If they were the Rain (or Storm) then they should commission whoever did the Edmonton Oilers' oil drop logo to design their logo.

So it could be an aggressive flying sperm?

I didn't know there was a team named the Seattle Reign.. but again, this was just a concept.. no false hope that this would ever be the team name or look.. haha

no it's not.

Although I do agree that it doesn't rain as often as people think. Just cloudy a lot, as you obviously know.

From what I've heard, NY and Chicago actually experience more rain. I think Seattle would prefer a different name, although I am a fan of the jersey concepts.

I do like the R and the way you can see rain falling inside of it.

Maybe find a synonym to rain, or another weather-related word?

I'm really bored so I'm going to just use the facts to debunk this stereotype about how much it rains in Seattle.

Among current NHL cities, Seattle (37.49 in) ranks behind Boston, Buffalo, Carolina (Raleigh), Columbus, Dallas, Florida (Ft. Lauderdale), Nashville, NY/NJ, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Tampa, Vancouver and Washington in inches of rain per year. So, over half of the league's cities (NJ/NY counting three as one, and LA/Anaheim counting as one) have more rain than Seattle. It was almost the exact same as Dallas.

I go up there to visit my best friends a few times a year. The "rain" stuff is waaaay overblown. It's more gray than it is wet.

You could be on to something here: the Seattle Grays.
