Just call them the Seattle Mountaineers... emblem can be Mount Rainier w/ an S in there somewhere... 5 mins in paint came up w/ this so...

alternate emblem could be a silhouette of the space needle. Mascot would be a plaid wearing lumberjack. Easy.
Mt. Rainier for reference:

Really not liking the name and the shade of blue that is being used for the jersey concept.

Bravo. Much better name. It not only references Seattle weather, but also means "To attack suddenly with great force".

And they would play in Tampa´s uniforms. Or Oklahoma Thunder´s jerseys. That would be actually clever hint at Thunder´s connection to Seattle

Never been to Seattle, but from what I understand, although it rains a lot, their weather isn't really "stormy".

I actually think the name Rain is great. And I like what the OP did with the logo too. Rain is good for the weather plus as a reference to Mt Rainer. It just works imo. Also if they're good and they go up against LA or CHI, they could Rain on their parade. For an alternate look on the logo, maybe incorporate the mountain and Space Needle just to see what that would look like.

Seattle Squall???

Still no love for Seattle Squall?

If we want the team to be named after the weather....

Seattle Rainbows? I could imagine very colourful jerseys
Seattle Wet-Heads?
Seattle Puddle Jumpers
Seattle Slippery-When-Wets (easy logo)

I like this is a concept.

Instead of Rain can we just call them the Storm

The WNBA team is already the Storm so that definitely won't work. It also doesn't really storm here at all. Hardly ever get thunder and lightning. Through a google search there are a ton of awesome views of the downtown area with Rainier in the background. Would make for a killer patch/alternate logo.

Edit: For reference the professional woman's soccer team is the Seattle Reign

In an earlier iteration of this thread, someone suggested what could be the greatest NHL team name ever:

The Seattle Battle Cattle.

Imagine, if you will, the possibilities.

Ideally, the Canucks relinquish the Orca logo and shift full time back to the vintage stick in rink and Seattle names their franchise the Seattle Breach. LOL

1) Efforts like this are worth commending, so thank you.

2) I like the name. It works. As others note, weather-related phenomena have been used for other NHL teams.

3) I like the umbrella concept and the falling rain lines in the logo.

4) I'm not a big fan of the color scheme. It's not bad, per se. But I agree with other posters who've noted that other Seattle-based sports teams do a pretty good job with blues/greens that are relevant with the region. The challenge would lie in picking something that wasn't too close to colors of the probably rivals up here in Vancouver. Maybe green and grey as primary colors with blue accents?

Anyways, thanks again.
