If only we could have known that somehow before the season. Oh well. Onto the next pass rusher.

I disagree with that idea.

They needed upgrades at RT and MLB way more than at WR2. Especially when you look at it from a bang for your buck POV. Paying a veteran WR big money to be a second option, at best, it is not a great allocation of cap resources.

My $0.02

Milano and Diggs were incredible I thought.

Rousseau was very good as well.

Kincaid, Cyrus, Benford and Bernard inspired confidence.

Allen, Dawkins, Tre, Oliver and Davis really disappointed given what they're all capable of.

Brown and Epenesa are both running out of runway.

For perspective, PFF has Spencer Brown at 55 (bad), McGovern at 43 (horrendous), Morse at 60 (not great), Dawkins at 65 (not great) and O'Cyrus Torrence at 69 (very good for a rookie) after one game.
Poor offensive line is the true cause of this teams offensive issues and has been for a few years. Allen does not trust his line. Makes him less comfortable in the pocket, routes take too long to develop (Dorsey specialty), and forces balls out of frustration and lack of patience.

Winning the battle in the trenches and winning the turnover battle are always hugely important, even if you have a franchise QB.

How did Elam do with that pick that could have been a lineman or wide receiver?

Point taken that Allen isn't patient, but that's no easy 7 yd 1st down. Diggs is open for 2-3 yds and would have to bust through a couple tacklers before he got to 7.
If you can get 4 yards on a play, you take it. Especially against the Jets D.

That is a dumb take. We needed a corner he was a first round corner.

Bills offense is at its best when they have three wrs. They have one wr. They spent 80% of the game with 2 TE. Went great. Dorsey couldn’t scheme Cook or Harty into open space to save his life.

So what changes? Allen is his best throwing to WRs Beane hasn’t replaced down the field. Instead this team builds talking about YAC with an OC that doesn’t scheme his YAC players open. And now…two TE sets and a pass catching back for a QB who doesn’t want to throw short and intermediate balls.

If Allen is the QB…they need to fire Dorsey and spend next offseason doing what Beane should have done two years ago. WIDE f***ING RECEIVERS.

He was never a fit for their defense. That was known at the time. You want a dumb take…assuming all corners play the same game and will fit your team is a dumb take. That’s why he was always behind the scheme fit they took in round 6 and was SCRATCHED in year 2. Waste of a pick.

Draft for need you say? That’s a dumb take.

went as expected. By people who understand it isn’t a video game.

Agree, but that play is not a great example of just ignoring an obvious 1st down play.
The interception to Davis was the prime example. Just all around dumb. Did Sherfield even get snaps? He IS a slot receiver.

Just because they played Man doesn't mean a smart physically gifted person can't adapt. We ALL know drafting is BPA with priority given to your positional holes. This is not the NHL. There are 7+ picks every year. You won't like some and statistically you will be right on some.

That checks out. McGovern couldn't open up a hole for the life of him. Brown got pushed around like he was 6'2 250lbs. Morse looked tired which is odd because the offense wasn't even on the field for that long, and Dawkins and Torrence seemed to hold down their spots enough.

I don't know how we can bitch about needing a receiver when there's a much bigger issue on the OL. It's mind-boggling that Beane didn't sufficiently address it.

That's fair. I liked Elam but McDermott has never depended on physical corners. He likes the zone guys who are more cerebral and versatile.
