Goes back to what we were saying during the pre-season. Josh has too often either missed or refused to use hot routes when the defense is sending too many to block. Even the short passes he does throw are when he's scanned the field and nothing else is open deep, which takes too long and allows the defense time to rally to the outlet routes and stop them for a much shorter gain (and makes it very difficult for the outlets to make men miss)
Josh also needs to be better with his decision making pre and post-snap.

There have been way too many times where the protection has not adjusted to what seems like an obvious pressure and too many run plays have not been audibled out of when the math told you that it was not going to work.

Wonder if going tempo can get Josh up to the line quicker with more time to make reads pre-snap. They don't necessarily have to snap the ball quickly, just give him more time to survey the defense.

Would give them more time to use motion to help diagnose stuff too. Am I remembering right that motion under Dorsey is way down? That's.....not the way the rest of the league is going.

Didn't Cover1 talk about this, too?

Man, QB has to be the toughest position in sports. There's so much processing that goes along with it.

ESPN came out with their separation, catching, and YAC receiver analytics

Some interesting tidbits

Kincaid is rated as the 3rd overall TE out of 28 TEs based on ability to get open, catch, and YAC. 1st is Travis Kelce & 2nd is George Kittle. Kincaid is rated above Mark Andrews & Dallas Goedert. Knox is the 25th rated TE.

Gabe Davis is ranked 68th out of 81 WRs for seperation. Diggs is ranked 17th for separation.

Bills don't have any receivers in the top 30 for YAC ability

When josh isn't messed w by league he tears it up. Can he be a targeted individual and overcome . Not easy.

I honestly think the YAC thing is partially on Josh. He isn't throwing it underneath a lot and letting his playmakers make plays.

They keys should anyone tackle this is the timing , tds called back or pi against goal line. , penalties that maintain possession for opponents and all the flags in case opponents don't get first down . That are not on stat sheet , nfl insurance flags.

We should do a buffalo call to prayer on these timely penalties . En masse we all bend over and give the finger to nearest camera

Allow josh to run, allow him to chase the big play. Stop making him be Tom Brady, he's not.

His big arm allows him to throw a lot of deep passes and throws outside the numbers that are rarely going to lead to YAC.

They also have a WR2 that is incapable of getting open quickly off the line of scrimmage and will never be a catch and run guy.

YAC is a little better this year largely because of Kincaid and Cook getting more involved in the passing game.
