This isn't a shot at Allen or the other top QBs around the league, but I like offense that are well-rounded. And you can't do that when you have $70 million in cap space invested in two players (i.e. a QB and a WR). It's only a matter of time before the TE market catches up with the WR market, though.

Josh Allen has the 11th highest cap hit this year and 7th highest next year with others likely to pass him.

Every team with even an average QB has to deal with salary cap issues. There is no example of a team that doesn’t have a few players eating up most of their cap once your QB is off their rookie deal.

I’d rather have the Josh Allen salary issue over the Brock Purdy cheap contract.

As grateful as I am for a Sunday 1pm game, I almost need a one week break from the Bills. Being at that game took years off my life.

I don’t blame you. It was one of the few games I missed, and I’m not complaining. Seemed like anxiety-inducing game. Though I imagine it was fun in person once the clock struck zero (the second time)

But I didn't say fudge.

The amount of terrible takes I've seen for this team over the internet for the past few days has been astounding. I know most casual fans, like me, have tunnel vision when it comes to post game reaction, but my god has this week been unbearable.
This season in general, Sabres fans too. Buffalo sports fans are wound WAAAAY too tight right now.

Take a step back from the ledge and enjoy the rides again. It's October. Nothing is being won or lost right now.

I'd rather have either of those six days a week and twice on football Sundays over the DeShaun Watson or Russell Wilson or Kyler Murray contracts.

Except future opportunities... (and that remark coming from a calm, rational, Buffalo sports fan).

I disagree with this. When you watch Elway under Shanahan, Favre under Holmgren, or any other big, strong armed QB being reeled in, it looks the same.

The QB has less of the "wow" plays and more controlled, sustainable offense. I'd rather see a boring slant pass to a receiver for 7 yards than the crazy throws that gain 20 yards. I don't think the chaos plays are a sustainable way to play offense. The Bengals exposed that last January.

I don't understand your point regarding Purdy.

Allen's is undoubtedly one of the better QB contracts in the league - but given SF's scheme & what they typically require from a QB - having Purdy on a close to league minimum salary is an absolutely perfect situation for them.

Purdy is a mediocre QB that will limit the 49ers for as long as he is there. He needs the perfect situation every single game in order to succeed.

Can you win a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer or Foles? Sure, but you aren’t winning multiple super bowls.

I’ll take my chances managing the cap implications of an elite QB, it has been demonstrated to be more sustainable.

To play Devil's Advocate here, Favre only won one. Rodgers has only won one. Warner only won one. Brees only won one. If Payton stayed in Indy, he's only winning one. He had to jump ship to a team that was already a finished product, not unlike Brady in Tampa, to push them over the edge. There aren't that many people repeating. And some all-time greats (Marino, Moon and Kelly) went their entire careers without winning even one.

The Lombardi trophy is pure luck, IMO. The fact that there isn't a template any one team can follow reinforces that. So, in that respect, Beane has absolutely done right by the fanbase in making sure the Bills get into the playoffs, as a high seed, each and every year.

Jerry Rice's son plays at USC and is draft eligible.

Edit: watching him today. I'm generally against taking a WR in the first round, but I'd break that rule for Rice. I'm not fanboying him because he's Jerry Rice's kid.

Excellent hands. Hand catcher and wins all kinds of jump balls and contested catches. High points the football like coaches teach during tip drills. Timed speed is good but he's got his dad's long strides, so his play speed is even faster than his timed speed. He doesn't get caught. Routes are very good for a college receiver. Does pro WR things already, like getting two feet inbounds instead of one (see catch vs ASU). Has his dad's feel for coverage, and gets to the right spots. Big time YAC threat. Catches the ball in stride and then accelerates past defenders with his long strides. Explosive off the line and is a vertical threat due to his timed speed. Shows up even when his team isn't (see last year vs. Oregon when he was at Colorado).

He'll test well at the combine. 10.78-second time in the 100 meters, 1.43 10-yard split, vertical 38 inches, 4.38 40.

The kid is legit and will be in the first round, despite what his current rankings are.
