Tell the Dallas Stars or Carolina Hurricanes that the margins don't matter.

The Flyers have positioned themselves where they MUST win in the margins. It's a low % plan. But if that's their plan, they deserve to be criticized over every marginal decision.
And to continue, Clarke et al have shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that they very rarely win in the margins. So not only are they setting themselves down a low percentage path, but it's a path they THINK they excel in but don't.

Every single step along the way only reinforces how entitled and arrogant this org is. They actually think the diarrhea they constantly blow down their leg is luxury chocolate, which they all proudly feed each other while everyone else looks on in horror

I love how ”you guys are hysterical over the margins” got distorted into “the margins don’t matter”.

No. I’m saying that you’re a freak if you’re wetting yourself over the fact that they traded Walker + 5th for Johansen + 1st (bad!!!) instead of Walker for Ceci + 1st (acceptable). Or if you think Seeler at 2.7M for 3 years is meh, but Seeler for 4 years at 2.7M is an unmitigated disaster that proves the worst things you’ve ever known about this organization.

You’re free to quibble. Quibble away! But if you’re having histrionic meltdowns over those margins, well, yeah.

Particularly funny because the entire last week, the gripe was that they just don’t get it, that no one would be traded, that they wouldn’t acquire a valuable pick on the table. Now that it’s proven false, the gripes turned to the margins.

If one didn’t know better, one might think people were just fishing for reasons to screech.

People were bargaining with their mental sanity and saying just trade one of them at least.

You're the one doing a victory lap because a supposedly rebuilding team finally made one rebuilding move while also making a completely idiotic one.

The trick to achieving enlightenment and zen is to shrink the aperture down to single moves. Everything seems overly dramatic when you throw out everything but one scene of a play.

I gave it a 'C.' I think that's not wailing like a banshee. But as part of the larger story? It's thematically resonant.

It's not so much a historic melt down as it is more fuel to the fire theory that this team is going be mediocre for another decade.

A team that has decided it isn't going to do a tear down rebuild and is awful at pro talent evaluation is shackling themselves to an aging core plus some nice secondary younger players and can't win in the margins to save their life.

This sounds like a plan leading to a Stanley Cup to me. I'd like to order 27 season ticket packages please.

See, I thought the trick to enlightenment was confidently repeating yourself ten thousand times that everything is the same and obstinately refusing to concede when things turn out to, in fact, be different.

The Flyers have positioned themselves where they MUST win in the margins. It's a low % plan. The only top 5 pick they made, they traded at a loss 1 season later. But if that's their plan, they deserve to be criticized over every marginal decision. That they f*** up most of the big ones too isn't a defense.

The Knights? Who traded for Jack Eichel, signed Pietroangelo, and acquired/signed Mark Stone.

They managed to come out of the gate well because of many different reasons... their success wasn't "winning in the margins".

You guys crack me up. "Winning in the margins" is trivial and people act like they are privy to the discussions of NHL GMs talking about trades.

If the Flyers have positioned themselves where they MUST win in the margins, they've already lost.

so does Johansen not do any of this stuff anymore?

I'm guessing if you search for his 2023/2024 highlights you'd find your answer. My money is on no, but it would be nice if they could play him and pump up his value for next year's trade deadline.

Some people on here need to devalue their take. Many feel the need to constantly whine, moan and air grievances. It's not ridiculous, and yes I feel superior and just a little silly.

Oh no, they aren't going to do anything! Oh no they did some things and it wasn't what I said they should do! Everything sucks.

Whoa, wait. There are two Gert B Frobes here? Why? I mean, he was great in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but even so…

Poor decision making is taking a cap dump, and not getting anything in return for it.

They got a 1st round pick for a player that isn't 1st round pick trade quality.

Colorado is not in the position to trade a 1st round pick to just dump Johansen. I sometimes wonder if people actually understand what "leverage" is.

I agree. Everything is fine. The team is well managed and the processes are fine. It's their turn to win, and they're very honorable, so the sport will reward them. The here is truly now.

While RyJo has negative value Colorado could have easily retained 50% of their contract for a total of 75%. They aren't dumping a player at 2 million for a first.

But if it suits you guys let's run around and ignore that actual reality.
