When Monahan got rolling last year, you really saw how he made others around him better.

I hope his injuries wont be a concern this season, dude is still only 29 and has still got the skills.

His front of the net presence and puck protection/creating turnovers on the offensive end along the boards is very underrated.

Some like to devalue his defensive play in exaggeration attempts as well. When Monahan is healthy which he was with the Habs to start the season last year, he is a very effective center.

Said it before many times and will say it again, it's not a question about ability with Monahan, it's a question about health.

Good,

Now we can stop the PLD dream,

Here is your replacement, no point in having them both on the team

Not really. Makes more sense now if Dvorak is in the Dubois trade package :naughty:.

Monahan and Edmundson are our trade ships for 2024 Tdl. If healthy , they are worth a late 1st each.

I think Pitlick and Wideman definitely play in the AHL almost all year.

We don’t have that many players like people say .

Caufield-Suzuki-Dach
Slaf-Monahan-Anderson
Heineman-Dvorak-Armia
RHP-Evans-Gallagher
Pezzeta-Hoffman

Matheson-Edmundson
Ghule-Savard
Xhekaj-Barron
Harris-Kovacevic

Monty
Allen

So that’s really only 1 player too much. Heineman could be sent down (even if I see him starting with us). Hoffman could also be sent down . Barron is still waiver exempt . We have possibilities!!

Hoping Barron and Heinemen spend the year in the AHL...we have too much deadweight we need to showcase for TDL.

I think the goal here is to have room in case some youngsters crack the roster. Hard to say with Heineman, Roy, Farrell, and whoever we draft with the 5th pick.

Harris as the extra D not playing full time is not ideal. Armia on the 3rd line is not ideal.

Lets wait a little bit more. There are going to be more trades.

I am pretty sure Winnipeg want no part of Dvorak, or it would be done by now,

The only way Dvorak will be part of the deal, is if the 5th OA is also included

Not sure but there will be a NHL contract going in the Dubois trade and if they move both Dubois and Scheifele, I don't see them crying like a baby if they take Dvorak as the NHL contract to play center. What do you think their plans are at center if they move both Dubois and Scheifele? Just sign someone as UFA? Easier said than done bud.

The NHL contract is not what is holding up the Dubois trade. It's the other more important parts.

Tank ??? Omfg you kiddos are relentless!!
SMH

To some fans, there is no in-between. You are either tanking or contending. Not allowed to have transition years.

Tanking is a loser mentality. You NEVER want that in your locker room

I don’t see Roy or Farrell ready next year .

We are still building our roster .. so for sure Armia on the 3rd line isn’t ideal , like Gallagher’s situation.

Harris should indeed be a starter. But like you said , there will probably be trades made + injuries .

Caufield - Suzuki - Dvo
Slaf - Dach - PLD
RHP - Monahan - Anderson
Gallagher - Evan's- Ylonen
I like these lines but there is no way PLD comes here and we keep Dvo. At least I doubt it. Also its not time yet to put Slaf on the top two lines. Let him grow as a hockey player before we do that to him.

I am also thinking that if the Capitals truly want to package Mantha for Hoffman or Armia to save some cap space We could put him beside Suzuki
PLD - Dach - Caufield
Mantha - Suzuki - Anderson
Slaf - Monahan - Gallagher
RHP - Evan - Heineman

I like this signing if he brings what he did last year. Very stabilizing presence for the younger players.

I'd like a similar guy but with more offensive skill though. A bit like Jagr with Florida, who helped both Huberdeau and Barkov come into their own. Patrick Kane is UFA, but I really doubt he'd sign with a rebuilding team in Canada. And, he would likely kill any chance at a lottery pick. He's the only one I see that fits that kind of bill though. If PLD gets traded here, no need for that obviously.

Monahan is back, at a super cheap price tag too (which makes it easier to move at the deadline). I really liked him last year until he got injured.

And that makes Dvorak (or Evans) very expendable.
Evans is going no where, he’s our character 4c with a very large voice in the room, the guys love him.

I’m hoping Dvorak goes before Evans.

I'm not convinced that it's a good idea to tie up that kind of cap space into Dubois either. I'm kinda hoping that talk is all white noise
I think that there are probably some truth to the rumors that Hughs would like to trade up in the draft that that if he can't he will re-visit the PLD trade. To me there is no doubt that this signing means they want to make a step forward this year which is perfectly fine. Tanking is something you do to acquire talent once you know there is no chance of making the playoff. At this point we do not know that and building a lineup that will look better then the year before can only be good.

I have absolutly no doubt that if Monahan is healthy for at least half the season and is healthy before and during the trade deadline that he can fetch something good. Even with his injury's history.

I’d be all over this however, I believe the Jets new GM will ask for our 2nd 1st as well.
of course we say “Hell No”…but Dvo that would be sweet to turn KK into PLD.

love the signing S Monaghan. Smart as F
cheers.
For Dvo on the 31st overall... You can bet that Hughes would say yes. We will need to add another pick though for that to happen.

Love love love it
Welcome back Sean!
When he played, he was great

Now, I don't absolutely hate Dvo or anything, but he has to be looked at to getting moved now, can't start the year with both Monahan and Dvo that's for sure
So dominoes right now probably

But definitely love having Money hands back
Happy either way keeping or trading him at the deadline

I probably missed why we're even giving the 15K bonus. Seems trivial but regardless good, affordable deal. Hopefully he's healthy by the deadline and we can trade him if we're not in playoff race.
