Kidney is 6’0” 176 lbs. why is he being mentioned with RHP, Hutson, Caufield and Farrell?

It would be so exciting to watch this team with all 8 of Farrell, RHP, Caufield, Suzuki, Dach, Gurianov, Anderson, and Slaf in the top 9, instead of the vets.

Just need Monahan or another good 3c to complete the top 9.

Two weeks ago, Friedman reported that Habs might sign Struble, but it's still undecided. The next day or two days later, Habs announce the Struble signing.

This week, Friedman reports that the Farrell decision isn't final yet. Which means Habs will announce his signing today.
I thought i heard Friedman call him a defenceman last night……and he literally soent 10 secs on Farrell and about twice as much on Coronato. Now I know Coronato is a former 1st rounder but just based on the stats, Farrell seems like the far superior player. Has as many assists as the Flames prospects has points and they have the same amoubt of goals.

Anyways, was just an observation, maybe it’s just the hab fan in me but it came across as a little lack of respect towards Farrell as he fumbled his position and barely talked about the superior player.

Like you said I think it comes down to being a former first round pick.

Farrell has always been the straw that stirs the drink where ever he’s been.

He didnt get to do much on an overall bad night for the offense. Still, you could see a few flashes here and there when he did get the puck. He'll get a much better chance to settle in after a few practice with the team.

Only one game. We'll see. He is small and thin. HuGo will have to do trades down the road to balance their roster, not necessarily a trade involving Farrell, but we alerady saw that Caufield is vulnerable to injuries because og his very small frame. I know some won't like that comment, but that's a reality. There is a limit on how many smaller players you can carry on your roster.

I don't like it because I really don't think dach, guhle, joel armia and Anderson are small framed but they too are vulnerable to injury (ies)

Baptism by fire for Farrell on his first NHL game, getting 13:03 of ice time.

This play stood out for him. It showed good awareness and positioning, where he separates an opponent from the puck by using his body along the boards.

My take after the first game is he's gonna need more than just a short amount of time to try to configure his game to contribute at the NHL level with his combination of skating and size.

He didn't really make any glaring mistakes, but he didn't do a lot with the puck on his stick. Time will be needed on the farm.

Yes but they play a much more physical game than Caufield which hits nobody, and for a good reason, it's not his job to do that. In fact, part of his job is to avoid contact as much as possible.

I'm not sure there is a correlation between lack of size and injuries to be honest. We can go back and forth with anecdotes but it wouldn't prove anything.

That said, we all agree you can't have a team of undersized players.

I agree with this. But playing with Drouin at center and then Gurianov is very different than playing with Dach or Suzuki at center. If one of those two are his center then Gurianov should be fine on the opposite wing.

Would be nice to see how he does in offensive situations and on scoring opportunities.

I can still have an opinion after just one game. lol.

I might eat crow on it, I might not. I hope I do. I just think he's further away from being an effective NHLer than I thought he was. I've been high on Farrell for a while, he's one of my favorite prospects in the organization.

The hardest thing for him to do in the NHL would be defend and he did so, without a team practice, pretty well on a line with two guys who are terrible defensively.
