Prospect Info: Sean Farrell, C/LW, 124th Overall

You can't have 3 smallish players on the same team imo. So many large, skilled players that can skate are in this league.
I don't think having Caufield, Farrell and Hutson on the team in a few years time will be any issue.

We'll have Anderson(6'3), Dach(6'4), Slaf(6'3), potentially Gurianov(6'3) and maybe the one who shan't be named(6'4) to help fill out our top 9.

Then on the backend Hutson is going to be surrounded by giants like Xhekaj(6'5), Guhle(6'2), Kovacevic(6'4), Mailloux(6'3), etc...

They are getting physically destroyed in all their puck battles, thats pathetic to see, its like men vs kids. Big 10 is a largely superior division.
I’ll take your word for it, after all watching 1 game says a lot more than 30 + :sarcasm:

3 smallish players in this era is the most I think a legit contender would want.
16 play off wins will wear down small teams

Looking forward to seeing him pro level

I know he'll look "ok" even in his first NHL game n all, it's more I wonder who under the age of 24 on the habs does he 'outshine' as to get a good grasp on where his development is at right now

Fingers crossed that Farrell and Hutson can take a page from Caufeild's book on how to avoid big hits. It seems like he has a 6th sense that keeps him out of harms way.

Ive actually been pointing out his issues for a while, but criticisms of our own prospects arent very popular over here.
well you are a rarity then my friend. Unbiased player evaluation is always welcome but some people think they know a player inside and out after watching one or checking hockeyDB.

Carry on!

So be it
Welcome aboard Sean

If RHP can make it I just don't see how this kid doesn't
RHP is actually physically pretty strong despite his undersized frame, wins ton of puck battles, throw his size around, no wonder why he is called Gally 2.0. He also played almost 3 full yrs in the AHL. Farrell isnt there yet. I will totally eat crow if Im wrong here, but I dont think I am.

How many more seasons at BU do you think Hutson plays? I think he will be so dominant next season that he signs after his sophomore year.

I'm thinking probably 1 more season too. It'll give him some more time to pack on some muscle which is especially important for him since he's still growing.

That reminds me when Serge Savard traded Keith Acton and Mark Napier for Bobby Smith. Almost the steal trade of the '80's. Acton was a very fast skater, had some hands and hockey IQ. Napier was a good overall center with skills, speed and hockey IQ. But also small. Like Acton.
Bobby Smith was skilled with great size and leadership. Smith was worth much more than Acton and Napier together. Smith changed the Habs Team for better the day he played his first game. Won a SC in 86 and SC finals lost to Calgary in 89.

So we pack a lot of two small players hoping we'll get a good one who is bigger in a trade. And this is a wish ending or it happens all the time in nhl trades?
That is proper team building. If it takes two decent players to fill a gaping hole you do it. But that is an end game move and we are nowhere near that yet.

Aside from Xhekaj where is the SOB forward who can stand up and fight for the talent. Teams will be going after Caufield and Farrell and even Dach. We saw them targeting Kaiden Ghule on more than one occasion. There is a certain mentality that has to come with the size and only Arber possesses it. There is still a gaping hole in that roster.

Which of our prospects do you like?

Everyone thinks he will sign...will he?

Let the Farrell watch begin.

I wonder if he'll be in uniform Monday or Tuesday. Given we have 3 game in 4 nights and so we won't be practicing much, he may. Ot play in these 3 games, and only debut at the end if the week.

That's not something we really need to address through top 6 or top 9 talent though. I'm sure they'll be looking to add at least 1 more tough guy through free agency(likely a 4th line guy) by the time that Edmundson's gone.

I think it depends on how much strength he gains over the next full year. We've seen far too much of our youth go down this season because of the direct jump it's huge particularly for players who like to be involved and on top of the play.

No I don't think Farrell is anywhere near the physicality of RHP, which is a huge asset for him
Kiiiind of different players
Farrell is more shifty

I think he's ready for the NHL. And I also think he'll be signed to play in the NHL this year. But hopefully they do with Farrell what they did with Struble. AHL deal to finish the year and his 2-year ELC kicks in next year.
That would allow Farrell to play in the AHL playoffs.

But could he be called up to the Habs if there isn't an injury emergency?

No because the contract won’t be effective for this year.

No doubt he’s signing to play with habs
