Prospect Info: Sean Farrell, C/LW, 124th Overall

This is who I have in mind too. Great pick.

Palat is significantly bigger and stronger than Farrell and relies on his strength to protect the puck and absorb contact. Not sure I see too many similarities other than they are both two way wingers. I personally see alot more in common with Mats Zuccarello although these comparisons are always quite flawed. I just see Farrell finding success with an approach closer to Zuccarello than Palat as he will likely never be strong enough to play this way.

Great agility and edgework.. his straight line speed/acceleration are not fantastic but he's so smart that its rarely an issue except for a foot race for a loose puck.
Yeah, his first few steps are not as dynamic as like let’s say caufield but that’s not a problem

The Untouchable Matthew Knies only has 31 pts in 29 games in his 2nd NCAA year.

Obviously they play a tougher conference but he also plays with better players.

Only on pace to slightly do better than his freshman year, as well.
99 out of 100 NHL teams would pick Knies over Farrel .
Knies is NHL ready .Farrel is European ready

Ranked 1 spot ahead of Matthew Knies in Scott Wheeler's mid-season top 50 draft prospects.

He was ranked in the 40s.

Wheeler sees him as a top-9 player with PP1 qualities.

To be fair Scott Wheeler is an absolute buffoon, who overvalues stats because he is the typical online nerd who has never played the game at any respectable level. Same clown who didn't like Guhle but loves Dumais.

Sorry, had to let that out.

They are both very good prospects and it is nearly impossible to compare them due to playing in very different leagues and possessing opposite strengths/weaknesses.

I would have to consider taking Knies over Farrell but it is too close to call, how about yourself?

It's tight because Knies has the physical element and is a good skater for his size with some skill. I think I would still take Farrell since I really do love his 200 ft game and the fact that every year he seems to get better. Knies has stagnated production wise this year.

They are both playing in the NCAA.

Knies has an advantage on the physical side but on everything else i’d have to go with Farrell.
