I think it will come down to his skating and ability to create time and space at the NHL level. Skill and IQ is clearly there but how that translates to the NHL is always subjective.

Caufield is dynamic cause his skating is very good. It helps him find that open space which is key.

I like Farrell's potential. A B+ prospect trending very very well. We have several of them.
The thing with B+ prospects some will make it and some will fail

Roy, Farrell, Mesar, Beck, Heineman are all in that mold and for once we don't need them all to hit to have a chance

Yup. Hoping we bat 1/3 on those B+ types. If we do, we will be in very good shape but still need to add some stars at the top end level. Depth won't be an issue for the Habs moving forward. All eyes on getting more Grade A's and proven talent at this stage.

Completely agree with this.

Caufield and Dach has magic written all over it.
You mean, magic like Suzuki and Caufield!?

Seriously, not that I'm against trying stuff out, but Suzuki-Caufield works, probably more than Dach-Caufield with because Suzuki is a dual threat that can also score 30+ when he decides to mix it up and shoot.

It just makes across the crease passes to Caufield less telegraphed and more effctive.

Dach is not a dual threat C, despite having a decent shot.
that line has no shooters all those guys have a pass first mentality i dont think it would work that well
Yeah, honestly, on that line, the shooter likely ends top being the D ;)

Yeah wanted to write 2023 and 2025. Thx
2025 doesn't work. You want 2024 because of where MON would be in the standings. By 2025, that 2nd round pick won't be so early in the 2nd round.

At this point, i think cap space is all you need for Puljujarvi now. Doubt a GM would give assets for him.
Who the puck wants Pool-Party that badly!? We've been hearing questions about how he can come here for much too long now!

From that list, who can score 30 g in the nhl in 2 or 3 years?
20 goals? 15 goals, 10 goals ?
How many pts?
=/- : who can be around +10 ?
And about first line, second, third and 4 th line?

If we all agree they will all become good nhlers, saying this feb 2023, will we laught of that statement in 2033?
Did we lived the same experience before with our prospects?
Think !

I think one of the funniest things with players like Farrell.. is people see the size and the stats and think he's top 6 or bust.

Farrell has a path to the NHL in many different ways other than playing on a physical bottom line.

There's a reason why, when the coaches at USA had NHLers, European Pros, etc. at the Olympics AND World Championships that Farrell played PK and was out there to defend leads with the net empty.. and it wasn't for shits and giggles.

A guy like Yanni Gourde (5'9, 175 lbs) plays with that kind of tenacity. If Farrell can become a player like that, perhaps a little more creative even, he would fill a team need.

I'm sure it's been answered already, but does anyone know when is the earliest he can join the team this season and when is the latest? If I'm not mistaken NCAA players usually play around 10 games when in the season that they sign their NHL contract right?

Earliest is around mid-march and the very latest is between april 6th and 8th (if his team makes the semi-final and final of the frozen four).

Harris signed his contract march 26th last year and played 10 games.

LOL, Neither Courtnall nor Keane were close to HoF material. Even Naslund is not HoF, probably due to his career not being very long.

Keane was not fast. Gilchrist was average.
That's a list of players I would take today anytime. Courtnall was really fast and Naslund too. Take all these players, make them play instead of all the deadwood we have now and Habs are in a PO spot. Not enough to be a Cup pretender but they can go second round of PO.
Naslund is close to HOF, Carbo is HOF. Keane won 3 SC and was a captain for a short time. He wasn't that fast but fast enough for the job he had to do. In my book he's almost HOF but that's my biaised opinion, wink. Gilchrist was faster than average but not a goal scorer.

I actually like the line of Farrell - Beck - Roy because I see cutdown ability with offensive upside for secondary scoring, not commentary scoring, from our third line.

But, I also don't think MON will land Bedard, so the top-6 won't really look like that down the line. Dach probably back on the RW of Suzuki's line and the C we do draft in 2023 as the 2nd line C.

Caufield - Suzuki - Dach
Slafkovsky - 2023 draft pick - ???
Farrell - Beck - Roy

Farrell to end the season in MON? Why not? However, depending on how things shape up in Laval, he could be more useful to them and fighting for a playoff spot could be more useful for Farrell than playing in a losing cause in Montreal.

Screw what the fans would prefer to see -- it's about developing our prospects, first and foremost.

If nothing to win in Laval, please, have him play in Montreal...
??? Very well may be Heineman in 2023-2024 OR some nice trade-in/free agent. If Heineman is on the 3rd line in 2023-24' I'd think Heineman Beck Farell would be better. Roy needs at minimum 1 if not 2 season of AHL but I believe it will be worth it and he'll be a hell of a player, he's just still so young. Beck is young but super mature. Heineman and Farrell are 22+.

Pezz, RHP (some top 9 time for him with injuries),
+ some tough good 4th liner FA center in the 27-33 yo would be excellent to help the kids. Perry grade would be incredible. 1.5 mil well invested here since the kids are so cheap.

I mean, Montreal IS 29th in the league in terms of average height. But then Colorado is last and the difference between the tallest team and shortest team is not even 2 inches.

Habs are on average 6 lbs lighter (13th overall) than the fattest team in the league.

Maybe I understate how important size is... but big deal, your team is 1 inch smaller on average and 6 lbs lighter than the tallest and heaviest teams in the league... I'm sure thats the difference maker

I agree that the average size / weight is meaningless however having some size in your top6 is a must.

Curious to see how NJD will fare in the playoffs with 2 very talented center both around 6’ 180lbs.

Nobody calls him a bust from what I've read. We won't know what we've truly got until he laces them up in the bigs. He will be an NHL player but will he be a long term solution for us? And one can only hope he can help transform our PK which is still stagnant and far too passive.

well irrespective of their size I dont have much expectations for New Jersey - first playoff since 2018 (first for this core?)

Strength is far more important than size. The terms strong on their skates or strong on the puck were coined for a reason. Physical strength, strength of mind, and strength of character along with talent is the ideal.

Never stopped the Bruins. Hischier and Hughes are the same size as Krejci and Bergeron.
