The Untouchable Matthew Knies only has 31 pts in 29 games in his 2nd NCAA year.

Obviously they play a tougher conference but he also plays with better players.

Only on pace to slightly do better than his freshman year, as well.

I wasn't that high on him before but now it's hard not to imagine him in a top-6 role for several years to come. He just needs to be a bit more efficient with his turns and changes of direction, then he'll be golden. So smart.

I wouldn't say he's elite but he's very competent on the ice. He's above average in all categories except size.
The size thing is less worrisome in the NCAA. In Junior there are enough smaller or weaker guys to allow a smaller player a chance to score a lot.

In college, the majority of guys are the size of men. If you can produce against bigger players in College, size is probably not the NHL impediment. The critical variables will be decision-making, hands and feet.

Damn that's 41 points in 24 games. I predicted 2 points per game average at the beginning of the season. He is somewhat close
At this rate I'm the 2nd half of the season, he may catch Fantelli for the NCAA lead in points per game.

like all of us, incredibly curious about his ceiling. The projections are all over the place, with non-habs posters especially down on him

can't skate, too small, blah blah

Fantilli as a freshman has 47 points in 25 games. This is the player I hope the Habs can grab. I doubt he is available after the 2nd pick though

Yeah he's putting up big numbers. And I guess he's 3 years younger than Farrell since this is Farrell's D+3 year...

A lot of good potential generational players in this draft. I hope we finish as low as possible to get ourselves the chance to draft ad high as possible. Adding a top talent like Fantelli or Mishkov to the Suzuki, Caufield, Dach, Hutson, Mailloux, Slafkovsky, Farrell, Roy, offensive mix would be huge.

Even though he needs to get quicker, I still consider him one of the best prospects in the NHL. If he can work on his speed/skating a bit, I could see in time him ending up on the 1st line. Just so smart, such a skilled playmaker, works hard, will get his nose dirty. Just plays the right way, so many things to like about him.
