Prospect Info: Sean Farrell, C/LW, 124th Overall

Don’t know if it was just an off game but i went to the armada/sherbrooke game 2 weeks ago and he played a lazy game, not involved and was barely moving his feet. I was excited because people said he was better this year on these aspects of his game and it didn’t look like it.
like right after the WJC ? Some player take more times to get back from those event

Is he what is needed long term?
I know he seems ultra skilled but he is another pint sized player.
Time will tell for sure.

I still think we need as much talent as we can get. If we have too many small sized top 6 players, Hughes seems like the type to be able to trade such players when their value is high for other areas of need. Like he did in trading LD Romanov for big C Dach.

There's still literally 0 concern over size in the top 9 if he makes it. Bolded are small.

Slafkovsky-Suzuki-Caufield
Hoffman-Dach-Anderson
Farrell-Dvorak-Armia

So you can say, well some of that is trash players who won't be here long term. I agree.. but who are we adding to the forward group that is small. Mesar? Hasn't happened yet and we don't know. RHP will be in the bottom 6 and plays a lot harder than Hoffman does, so his size isn't an actual detriment.

You can insulate a few small players but you can't have your top 9 saturated with them.
I pretty much see it as 1 per line, maximum. So Caufield, Farrell, Mesar, RHP is the max one could have over 4 lines. Maybe more could work. But I'd have to see it to believe it.

But I still believe in drafting BPA. So if that's Mishkov, you draft Mishkov. And if all these small players make it, cool, we can always trade excess players that have value. But if we go for lesser talent with size and they bust or are mediocre like KK and DLR, that's the worst scenario.

If RHP and Farrell are top 9, then we're aleary at the point where adding other smaller players is a concern.

RHP is not a barrier to adding a more talented smaller player into the top 9. He's a nice story but he's not a game breaker. He's gonna be a 4th liner for us who can play up and down when required. He's a non issue.

I agree that he's not a barrier to adding talent into the top 9.

But I do think having 4 players in the top 9 that are undersized is an issue. So you either have trade one to resolve the issue or one goes to the 4th line.

So I agree that we should add top talent even if undersized, I don't agree with anyone who says they can all play in our top 9.

I only see 2 so far.. Farrell and Caufield. RHP is a non issue to me because its just a hot streak and he's not a key cog in the wheel.. Mesar hasn't announced himself as a can;t miss player at this point. So they can certainly add one more talented small player in their top 9.

Kucherov, Point, Gourde were all in Tampa's top 9 btw.

AND that's with not even including a potential PLD (I don't care how much his name being brought up upsets people lol it is a real possibility whether people like/believe it or not)

But I'm reeeeaally excited/intrigued to see Farrell with the big club in a month

Heineman as well when his SHL season is over, if not this year, then next year.

I think people are fretting too much over size right now. There's only two guys that I can confirm in the line-up for the future who are sub 5'11" and one is an elite goal scorer in Caufield, who has already produced in the play-offs and the other is Farrell who is a 200 ft player with offensive ability.

Let's not put the cart before the horse. The big job right now is trying to draft/develop nhl level talent. We cannot just assume that this job is close to complete or that certain players are guaranteed to make it.

Things like size are a potential issue when you are much further along in the competitive cycle, and it's a moot point if the current pipeline doesn't work out as hoped or anticipated with respect to being nhl level talents.

He's definitely gotten stronger, he really does well in physical battles for the most part.

But he's getting signed at the end of his NCAA season and he will play games in Montreal to close out his season.
It's one thing to look forward to with Slafkovsky and Caufield out. That and the return of Guhle at some point to see if he picks up right where he left off or if he has any lasting handicap from the injury.

I'm also curious to see if heineman, Roy and Kidney get to play in Laval to round out the season?
