Prospect Info: Sean Farrell, C/LW, 124th Overall

Why? To everything you said.
Pure justice for our young players who have to complete their junior careers. Mysak could have and should have played in his country or elsewhere in Europe last season, before playing in the OHL this year.

Justice? The players are free to go play wherever they want. An 18 yo kid who played in the USHL could play in the AHL.

Also, any players from the OHL could've played in the AHL last year as the CHL agreed to let players play while their junior league was on hold.

Be mad at the stupid CHL/NHL agreement, not euros that want to play here.

"Sean Farrell to me is a very heady player. He is phenomenal. He knows how to read the ice. He's playing chess and everyone else is playing checkers. For me, this guy is going to be very, very special. He thinks the game and he has elite tools, like his shot actually is very underrated. He can wire the thing. And he's an elite passer," praised Nicholas, during a Twitch Q&A in May.

"He knows how to reload, create speed differentials, how to attack two checks to suck in multiple defenders to free up options for him to move pucks into, and his area passing is amongst the best I've seen. He can really manage a puck very well, and that's his strong suit. He's also very good on the power play."

That was really high praise for Farrell, who of course is one of our top prospects, I wanted to put him 1st OA going into the draft in my final rankings, can't wait to see what kind of season he has and hope he ends it in Laval.

Probably as part of their play-off run, but he's clearly gonna get some games in the NHL when he signs his contract.

I love the fact that he was a player on the PK and defending when the other team had the goalie pulled in both the Olympics and WCs. He's a guy who will be able to play in any role because of his smarts.

The kid is special in many ways but still underated by most here. Very high praise from Nicholas who knows his shit. Farrell brings a Kucherov vibe whenever he gets the puck, especially on the PP. He sees everything and will be a force to reckon with Caufield waiting on his cross ice feeds.

Wait a minute the Habs published this themselves on nhl.com using old twitch q&a quotes from last may? Seems like they have to court Farrell. Are we in danger of losing him here omg :scared:

Did anyone listen to that interview?

I mean, why would he even do an interview with the Montreal media if he didn't want to sign ? In any case, listening to the interview I see no issue at all. But then again, this is Montreal where blinking your eyes at the wrong frequency will be interpreted as something.

Adam Nicholas knows Farrell well. Was with the Steel organization.

Cole Caufield knows Farrell well. Played with him and tweeted out "Steal" when we drafted him.

Farrell can play with the Habs this year and start his NHL career. He came to our development camp. He's a smart and good kid, I don't think there's an issue at all.

Then you add in the fact that MSL is our coach; a smaller guy like him would have idolized MSL.

I don't think there's any issues here.

Yea I heard it when it was on. Just a bright kid.

They has interviewed Lane Hutson a day or two before they interviewed Farrell.

Farrell, Mesar...
&
Mysak, Roy, Kidney, Rohrer, Ylonen, Kapanen...

That's a lot of prospects on the smallish end of the spectrum especially when CC is a roster lock (barring trade) the next 5+ yrs, not to mention Gally & his 6yrs.

Even if only half of them (4) make it to nhl-regular, with Suzuki & Evans also on the smallish side, hard to see us having roster room to make that work.

Will be fascinating to see how HuGo deal with managing this glut of smallish skilled forward prospects while maximizing their utility as assets.

At least we have Anderson and Slaf to compensate in the top 6

6'0 forwards aren't small, they are average in height

I'll never not think about this. 4 picks in close proximity, all from the same area. The first guy is the absolute worst, a total stinker.. while Biondi is good, he's behind the other two. Farrell being our best forward prospect not named Slafkovsky and Dobes our best goalie prospect.

Farrell have high potential for sure, talented playmaker with a good shot. What a pick at 4th round, he is a 1st round talent, no doubt!

Habs have a lot of talents on forward with Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Dach, Roy, Farrell, Heineman, Ylonen, Kidney, Mysak, Rohrer, that's very very solid.

What is solid is that, from that bunch, Suzuki, Slafkovsky, Dach, Roy and, maybe, Farrell, have top-6 potential. Two are Cs (Suzuki and Dach) and three are wingers (Slafkovsky, Roy and Farrell).

IMO, as much as Farrell is talented, I'd rather Roy (as more of a sniper) on the top-6, beyond Slafkovsky and Caufield, along with anther power forward with more puck skills, overall, than Anderson.

Farrell and Anderson could well make good wingers for a 3rd line.

That's where this team becomes a monster team up front if we manage to draft a Big, talented C in 2023 and sign Dubois as an UFA in 2024.

Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Dubois - Fantilli/Dvorsky - Roy
Farrell
- Dach - Anderson
Heineman - Beck - Ylonen

Sure, none of the bolded players are established NHLers, but the talent is there and the potential is real. The fact that they aren't established players means that they could, along with a few higher priced Ds to go along with Guhle and Barron, maybe Harris, co-exist with a higher priced Suzuki, Caufield, Dubois and Anderson, at least for a few years!

Then, off a Cup run, hopefully, choices would need to be made. Dach and Anderson, of the third line above, would likely need to be moved and replaced by other players and the role of the third line might need to be changed?

Slafkovsky - Suzuki - Caufield
Dubois - Fantilli/Dvorsky - Roy
Farrell
- Beck - Ylonen
Heineman
- Kidney - Smilanic

*At this point, Kidney and Smilanic are purely instead as examples of the level of players since, by then, they will surely have moved on from the Hbas if they haven't already gotten their chance with the team.

6 foot sub 200 is smallish & below average.

Average height is 6'1 1/3
Average weight is 204.4

6 foot 200 (Jonathan Roy) lbs is not small. Bergeron would be considered small because he's 6'2 but 189 lbs?

Suzuki at 5'11 205 lbs is not small (above average in weight according to your metrics).
