Bah, everyone just loves to over react... The thing is that being a great prospect doesn't insure you will make the NHL. Look around the league... it's full of guys who were thought of as top top talents who end up on waivers...

Case in point:
JN 2019 Prospect Profile #2 – Sami Niku
Funny thing is - that Niku has been decent compared to some of the other defenseman we have and he's the one being scratched. He offers at least somewhat of a different toolset as well.

As with many of Bergevin's lesser acquisitions, Staal, King, Savard, Drouin, and so on, they are compounding the problem that they got the guy by playing him more than they should in situations he can't cope with. Savard is having a tough time but they don't have a partner who can help him and they don't want play him less. Drouin was actually playing well this year so of course they put him at center so he could fail.

Are the people making the decisions really clueless or are they actively tanking?

Shouldn't you be happy if the decision to tank was a conscious one? hahaha.

Wright to the bottom, baby. No pain, no Shane.

We have a pretty solid prospect in Sean Farrell. If Caufield have tools to become a Cammalleri/DeBrincat, Farrell have tools to become a Gaudreau type of player. He already put 2.0 ppg at NCAA level, Gaudreau at 20 years old put 2.0 PPG in 40 games, 80 points. If Farrell can put at least 2.0 PPG this year, that would be amazing.

small simple size, but yeah. It’s been impressive so far. Im not that familliar with the ncaa divisions strenght but is harvard in a weak division and this could be why he is excelling so far?

Yeah it's a weaker division, but he can play against good teams, he got 1 assist against Struble/Harris team. But if he can put a 2.0ppg season, that will show that he got great potential, no doubt.

He might be our best prospect; it's hard to say. He's continued his torrid pace from USHL right into NCAA seemlessly. He passes the "eye test" in every aspect; skating, shooting, passing, hands, game-sense are all top-notch. Great prospect. Timmins may have just got lucky here (it has happened on occasion over the years).

Settle down a little with the 2 pts/game thingy haha. He started off with 7 points in 2 games (9-3 and 7-3 blowouts) and went on to have 5 points in the following 6 games.

Don't get me wrong, he is a good prospect. But realistically, he's not putting a 2 ppg season; he should end up much closer to 1 ppg than 2 ppg.

2 years. At most. That's it. Then it's Laval. But I wouldn't even be opposed to see him in Laval next year.

His demeanor on the PP reminds me of Kucherov during his Remparts LHJMQ days. He seems to controls the play and had that ability to naturally creates passing lanes with nifty moves. This guys thinks the game at another level and work ethic is not a problem here... His height is the only question mark.

interesting article, I don't have time to go through it but it talks about how he would consider turning pro but hasn't spoken to Gorton yet. He's 20 and keep in mind that despite not playing in the NCAA last year, he took classes so he is considered a Sophomore and he would have only 2 more years after this season in the NCAA (unless they make exceptions like the covid rule they had for this season but we'll see if that happens again or not) not that I would expect him to play that long anyway but good to hear he's willing to turn pro.
