Avery said it was a steal of a trade for the nyr

Few people can tell the future but I believe it was a fair market deal at the time it was made. If the Rangers had better offers at that time they would have taken one. If Seattle could have got a better player for that return they would have done so.

Uh oh

What a dumb sport where analysis comes down to if you play two more minutes you were put in a position to succeed.

Confidence is the biggest thing Kakko can acquire in a different environment. That pass on the first goal, would he try it playing for the Rangers? David Quinn made him sit for a period for a risky play like that. I don't think he ever got away from that mentality with the Rangers. A lot of it is on him of course, he had two coaches after that. But the first impression was not good.

And Kakko was not the only "victim" of that, Lafreniere as well. He finally started to unlock himself last year with Panarin.

The stretch pass? Schwartz was beaver tailing like crazy. Who doesn’t make that pass?

I don't know what happened to KK. What I do believe in my soul - is that if other teams with proper development systems picked Lias, KK, Kravtsov, to some extent Laf, etc - they wouldn't have all busted.
I believe this is true. Any other team would have given them minutes and PP to develop them.
