Confirmed with Link: Scott Arniel named Winnipeg Jets head coach

Since when would a assistant coach have the final say on who plays and who doesn't ? Does he have input? Maybe but the final call would be the head coach's . You are trying very hard to not like Arniel as our head coach, try giving him a couple of months first and then make your decision.

If an associate coach doesn't have any say on who plays than what do they have say over? I mean other than say over the leagues 21st ranked pk.

Perfetti was coached on what to say during an interview by Crash Davis. Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes it rains.
So why does anyone ever worry or complain around here by what is said by anyone? Apparently no one can ever believed to be telling the truth. No matter who says what just call them a lying SOB and insert your own version of the truth as fact.

I don't think i called anyone a lying SOB. All i am saying is that you have to take these interviews with a grain of salt. Again, show me any interview where a player says something bad about newly hired coach that he has to play for.

Watching the Rangers being dominated but still tied 2-2 in the Eastern Finals kinda points to the effect of strong goaltending, the Jets never got that despite what Mr. Playoff .870 proclaimed

Like him or not, Sip usually calls it like it is and in this case, he is bang on. Overall, the team's D-play was less than desired but Hellebuyck did not play well. As Harry Truman said "the (Helle)buyck stops here."

Sip has added a burner account.

Does he have a black Labrador ⚫🤔 😳
Its white, I think. Fluffy too. Weird lookin' eyes for a lab. But, rocks the attitude.

Again i never said that the assistant coach wouldn't have input i said that the final say on who plays and doesn't play would be by the head coach. Arniel could have been pumping Perfetti's tires but Bowness saw it differently. When Arniel took over for Bowness Perfetti played every game so i think Perfetti will be playing under Arniel now that he's the head coach.

He also played more under Arniel and I more situations. So yes I believe Cole when he says he feels Arniel trusts him.

Arniel says he has a plan for each player and I'm curious what that is for Cole next year.

Me personally i think Perfetti is in our top 6 for sure , i doubt we are signing Tofolli and if we don't sign Monahan i wouldn't be surprised to see Perfetti as our second line center.

His comments after the series really bugged me and still do, tone deaf comes to mind with a touch of arrogance! No?

True he didn't get much help but his play through five games was sub par!
I've gotten used to Helle claiming he was playing great when the results say otherwise. He is a goalie. And he needs to pump himself up to maintain confidence.
Actually i liked how the Jets played under Arniel when Bowness was away, 9-2 is a pretty good record , I'm going with that not i think Arniel sucks so he sucks.

I'm ignoring that entirely. He just kept the seat warm while Bones was away. I'm also ignoring 'Arniel sucks' because he flopped with a very bad team 12 years ago.

His suitability as HC remains to be seen. He will sink or swim on his own merits beginning next season. I hope he has a D corps to work with.

This a good post, but It is very probable the team already employs analytics to a much greater extent than assumed. The Jets have 4 people already on staff that does this full time. My guess is the things we throw around like xGF% is pretty much at the stone age cave drawings stage that even the teams least bought in are well past. The much harder part is getting players to adjust their games based on team analytics, and Arniel alluded to this a couple times by throwing out caution.

Not sure that is the harder part. Getting coaches to buy in is more likely the roadblock. At least some coaches.

You absolutely can ignore the record under Arniel if you want , that's totally your call. I just think some people wouldn't ignore the record if he went 0-11 .

That I agree with.
But that would have been a change from the results Bones was getting and so might have actually been meaningful.

But a short stretch as a fill in, where nothing was changed and where the record was similar to the before and after periods really doesn't mean squat. You are free to value it if you like.

There is usually a negotiation and in most cases the new team takes the full amount. My guess is he sits until a he gets a head coaching gig.
I'm going off what Friedman was saying about the rules on that during the 32 thoughts from a couple weeks ago, unless it's different for assistant coaches vs head coaches

yup. they aren't going to publicly voice displeasure or anything on a newly hired coach.
