Anyone jump into 1899 on Netflix yet? It's from the creators of DARK and has those same vibes so far. Finished episode 5 last night and shit is getting WILD.

I will watch it when I got time. Dark is probably one of the best shows I've ever seen and the level they go with time travel and ramifications is pretty superb.
The dub is pretty awful though. Like some of the 'elderly' characters are voiced by like 30 year olds and it sounds weird lol. Unless you are completely unable to deal with subtitles, best to avoid it.
Totally agree on all of this. DARK was amazingly in depth on tackling time travel and the dubs were hilariously bad.
The last season was pretty good overall. Some epic deaths, and I thought the ending was just very fitting.
You can see how some talented writers were able to do something outstanding with the guidelines they got given from the original series...vs other show writers who just mail it in and write poorly.

I finished it last night.
It's f***ing wild. I'll avoid spoilers, but I was not expecting that to be the twist.
"Dark" rules so hard, but dude - you never watch the dub. Never ever. You know that.
I finally finished it over the weekend. "f***ing wild" doesn't even begin to describe it. That shit went deep. I had a feeling it went somewhere in that direction, but they put us through a blender on the way there.
I'd heard some bad reviews from people, but not surprisingly, that was nonsense. It isn't as good as "Dark" - not many are - but it was really good for similar reasons. It's going to be wild seeing where they go from here.
I feel like anyone who gave it a bad review just had too hard of a time following along. Dark was definitely better, but 1899 certainly helped to scratch that itch I've had since Dark ended. Sounds like 1899 was planned for 3 season just like Dark. Do the right thing and renew it Netflix.

I could not get into dark. I gave it like 3 episodes. Subtitles on, English voiceover that did. It match the subtitles at all. I had a hard time differentiating a few characters.

That's because they're the same people. DARK was awesome. Confusing sometimes but I loved the chaos. Thought the ending was beautiful and fit the show spot on.

One episode in and I think it's half good and half terrible, so I guess that evens out to ok? If I didn't have kids, I wouldn't bother to watch it. The hip tone is simultaneously distracting and mildly interesting, maybe because I don't know that I've seen that in high fantasy before? Joanne Whalley's meta monologue about the folly of her marriage to Madmartigan, i.e. the character played by her real-life ex-husband got the biggest laugh out of me. Generally, though, it feels like she's playing a completely different character than what she played in the original film. If the Solo / Falcon & Winter Soldier actress once again turns out to be a sympathetic "bad" it will be the most bizarre instance of type-casting I've ever seen. Also, I found myself a bit smitten with the actress who plays Dove / Elora and was trying to remember where I recognized her from. Then I realized it's Nocturnal Animals. Ugh. That's as brutal a film as I've seen, particularly the fate of her character.
so far 20 minutes into Wednesday and its not really..pulling me in..its like someones bad take on the Addams'..though Wednesday herself is actually pretty spot on perfect, looks wise, but everything else i need to see more..
edit: finished it..not as bad as it started off..but i can see what the issue will be in terms of me enjoying it..typical teen show tropes..too much romance and cliques and such ..change the name from Wednesday and its just your typical teen drama show

So I’ve been in the same boat. I honestly had no idea what that show was but gave it a shot due to posters here. Dude…keep watching, it’s getting f***ing epic haha!!
