If you're a Babylon 5 fan and have HBO Max, you may want to binge watch it over coming weeks because its leaving HBO Max on January 25th with no announcement of it going anywhere else

May be another example of cost saving measure by new leadership as removing it from HBO Max means no need to pay any residual $

It is a WB property so in theory the only cost associated with it is residuals because WB wouldn't need to pay a licensing fee on its own property to its own service

I just finished watching "Andor" a few days ago, and I have to say, for me, the list is easy.

Original trilogy
"Rogue 1"
"Andor"
"Mando"
Who cares?

When I heard there were going to be new "Star Wars" shows/movies coming out, I was hoping that just once, we could get something a little more like GOT set in the Star Wars universe. I certainly never expected anything close to GOT in terms of writing or violence or sex or anything like that. But can we have a story in that world, where the good guys and bad guys aren't as easily defined? "Andor" is the closest I've seen to that, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I hope it got a great response and Disney takes notice. I will consume that kind of show till the cows come home. Boba and OWK not so much.

The motherf***ers cancelled 1899 after one season. f*** me.

I watched the one episode and the fact that nobody AT ALL was worried that the ghost ship had very obviously sunk and then unsunk was hard to buy. Nobody at all is going to ask why every single square inch of the place is coated in underwater plants?

I think I'm about ready to crown Terry Pratchett as my favorite author of all time. I just started reading The Truth a couple days ago. The premise of the book is about the Discworld's first newspaper, which is only possible due to a to a group of dwarves using a printing press led by a certain Mr. Goodmountain. A very dwarvish name if I ever saw one.

In the real world, the first printing press was developed by one Johannes Gutenberg, of Germany. The literal Englsih translation of Gutenberg is Goodmountain. This man was out here punning in multiple langues, like an absolute boss.

on book 2 of Phule's Company series..wish i had picked it up sooner

also waiting for the 3rd book of Janitor's of the Post-Apocalypse to come out in paperback

I’m indifferent on the film and wasn’t a fan of the series. It’s not unwatchable but the humor doesn’t land most of the time and most of the characters are frankly annoying. My wife and kids liked it though.
Same. I didn't really have any kind of huge attachment to the movie. I probably watched it 2 or 3 times and haven't seen it in 20+ years.

I found the characters talk way too 'modern'... I started to accept some of the humor a bit more in the last 1/3 of the series. Wouldn't really say I consider it that great, but at least it wasn't as bothersome to me as something like Wheel Of Time.

Also the ending
Kinda made it seem like the lost city had skyscrapers or ruins of skyscrapers in the distance so maybe Willow takes place in a distant future so some of the manner of speech was passed down orally or written.

I realize all of that about the speech is just lifetime bias of reading most fantasy and expecting them to sound a certain way lol.

That's one thing that always throws me. I can deal it with these days, but still one of those minor annoying things that makes me want to slap the back of my neck like a mosquito is there

They leaned into it, which I half-appreciated because it is a bit novel for high fantasy. It would have been nice if more of the jokes were actually funny or the characters even slightly interesting.

It can work if you're already into it, but it's still itches sometimes, and I'm not one to really care about small things like that.

As for Willow, I liked the movie. It was very well done, for its time. I wouldn't say it was anything I have much attachment too, but it was good. I was a kid starved for good fantasy movies, scraping by on "The Beastmaster" and "Red Sonja". Don't think I ever actually saw "Conan", at least not start to finish. "Willow" was the best fantasy movie I saw since "The Neverending Story" (GOAT) so it will always at least get a nod from me.

any thoughts on the long awaited (TV series) adaptation of the "Mayfair Witches"? Anne Rice adaptations have definitely gone super-nova before.
