Just finished the season finale, and well, the best I can come up with that future seasons have to better because it would be almost impossible to be worse. That said, my feeling is that the less familiar you are with Tolkien the more likely you are have a positive reaction to the show, at least up to this point. The reality is, that almost nothing of any real significance (in the context of Tolkien's history of this time) happens until this last episode. Sauron is outed and the rings are made. But we knew both of those things would happen. It's just that if you've read the books that were published by his son after Tolkien died you know that these "origin stories" - the naming of Mordor, Mount Doom (does a volcano really need an origin story?), Sauron... you know that what they came up with for this show is just silly fan fiction. But if you haven't read that stuff then you're a lot less likely to be annoyed (there is still plenty of cringe-worthy dialog though).

So as for what's to come... I do think it might be better because now that some important things have been established (Sauron in Mordor, the rings existing) they have to deal with some important events. While virtually nothing of substance happened this season (until the finale) there significant things that absolutely must happen if the show is going to get to it's ultimate destination, which is presumably the opening scenes of Peter Jackson's films. What should happen in the coming seasons...

- Sauron in Mordor, establishes dominion over much of Middle Earth.
- Numenoreans sail to Middle Earth in force, defeat Sauron and bring him back to Numenor in captivity
- Sauron corrupts the Numenoreans and convinces them to attack Valinor
- Numenor is destroyed, Elendil and the Faithful return to Middle Earth. Sauron's physical form is destroyed, he returns to M.E. a spirit of hatred and evil.
- Kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor are established
- Various conflict between Mordor and its allies and Arnor and Gondor.
- Last Alliance of Elves and Men, defeat of Sauron, death of Elendil and Gil-Galad
- Isildur takes the ring, is killed, ring is lost in Anduin
- Time jump, ring is obtained by "you know who"

I think all of those things really need to happen in the show, and there is probably enough there (with filler) to make four more seasons. Given the almost amateurish quality of the writing though, I don't have much confidence that it will be well done.

The show feels like a mediocre fantasy table top game for me.

Different note, Andor was good

I liked some stuff, the adar freedom fighter/Mt Doom origin (although not the exact specifics of the key part). Elrond/durin stuff.

With some better organization, I think this show could have been a lot better. It feels very rushed...

Can't believe the fan in Lord Bezos is pleased.

there is no need for the harfoots/stranger arc. We don't need hobbits...just no member berries. No young gandalf. Dumb and a waste of screen time.

There was no need for the Numenor arc NOW, or just softly set them up. The raft/Halbrand/Galadriel time in Numenor was meh.

Yay me I finally guessed right on some TV show. Halbrand was Sauron. I didn't HATE it. What i did dislike is the basically 2 hours Sauron spent with Celebrimbor. We got, "Hey bro, do it this way, don't force it, also bye". How about 2 or 3 episodes setting this up instead of 2 acts? Honestly, I think I could have done a better job just staying closer to you know the already laid out plan in some books...

new episode of Andor was a lil weak to me..mostly just a filler to ..maybe advance the time?

Andor isn’t over?
Wow it’s not. I figured the season wrapped up last episode and the reactions to it would start next season.

After a decade of reading them piecemeal, I've finally decided to read all the Discworld books. So far I've finished The Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Sourcery, Equal Rites, Pyramids, Mort, Hogfather, Guards! Guards!, Men at Arms, Feet of Clay, Jingo, The Fifth Elephant, and just now, Night Watch.

This is some serious good shit, people. If you have any interest in fantasy novels at all, you owe it to yourself to check Discworld out. Sir Terry is rapidly shooting up my list of favorite authors, and might just wind up at the top.

Jesus, I can barely get through a multi-paragraph post here, let alone all of those books lol

I wasn’t aware of this, but I got the email the other day.

They really aren’t that long tbh. Most have taken me 6-8 hours to read. They’re pretty light reading, too. It’s not epic fantasy like Tolkien, it’s closer to Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy if you’ve read those.

Andor was solid once more

Tales of the Jedi was also good...but it suffers from modern star wars stuff...
it relies too much on established characters
