Proposal: Scheifele for Toews?

Scheifele's defensive numbers were equal to Toews last year, and he scored 3 more points in 9 less games. Not that hard to say Scheifele had the better year

Interestingly enough...he actually has better possession numbers in his rookie season than Toews did at the same point in his career. Funny hey? Tows scored better though...worth noting.

He isn't as good as Toews defensively, I don't care what the numbers say/said. Toews is the better player, period, end of story.

No...we don't want Toews in exchange for Scheifele. Scheifele is just entering his prime and will be there from a long while...where as Toews will be leaving his over the next few years. He may already have done so given the sharp decline in his point production this season.

So we don't care if you think Toews is better or whatever. We don't want him in exchange for Scheifele. Not a chance.

No one is arguing that dude. Scheifele was better than Toews last season. Toews is still the better and more valuable player overall. (Except probably not 4.4m better)

No one likes that contract, and I'm sure Toews knows he isn't worth 10.5

But my point stands - if I'm making a team I'm taking Toews more often than not. There are only a few centers I take over him, them being Crosby and Kopitar. And perhaps McDavid if I'm feeling ballsy
 
Gimme Sheifele. He's not quite as good as Toews (although not that far off), but he's younger and a hell of a lot cheaper.

99.9999999% of the Hockey community would take McDavid over Toews.
Ballsy would be the other way around.
 
Not even a Jets fan but i'd be pretty pissed at the management if they did that. Toews is better but for how long and at 10.5m. Not worth the chance

One was in a playoff dog fight for half a year opposed to meaningless games. One also does not get top PP mins and one also has a legit #1 center playing in front of him, roles do play a part.

That being said, Zero chance the Jets make this trade , Toews is better than Schief right now, but contract, age, and where the Jets currently are as contenders, no chance Jets make the deal. Hawks would at least consider the deal imo.

And yes, I take Toews every time before McDavid. He can show me another great season and then I might change my mind. Sorry I dont overvalue potential as much as Hf does

Lol potential? McDavid just had a season where he has 10 less points than Toews in 35 less games. McDavid is the most valuable player in the league, and is much better than Toews today

If McDavid played the full year he probably would have outscored Toews by like 30 points...

If he can put up another 60pt season next year, I would be surprised. Whereas if Toews puts up another 50-60pt season next year, I would be surprised.

The only thing that makes this thread not completely laughable is Toews' salary. But he earned that salary by winning the Cup 3 times and the Conn Smythe, along with all of his other accolades.
