T-Minus 1 Day. Should be an amazing series, a gift to the hockey world.

Already pretty unanimous who would go #1 in a 2014 redraft......but interesting that the other three picks in the original top 4 are all in this series as well.
I remember that draft well. Flames fans and media were taking victory laps when we “passed” on Bennett.

If the Canucks can neutralize McDavid as a 5 man unit, then Florida is more than capable of it too. Can't wait to see how the Oilers handle Florida's relentless forecheck. The previous 3 teams that Florida beat were so worn out and exhausted that they had no energy left for offense.
Is 9 points in 7 games really neutralizing McDavid?

I’m so confused about these arguments. Apparently Dallas and Vancouver both neutralized Edmonton but it’s the Oilers who will be playing in the finals. Make it make sense.

Also, the Oilers are so worn out and exhausted too. Why? Because we all feel like it just like your stupid argument. Yet here the Oilers are.

EDM when 7 games with a Vancouver team that has small d-core. I don't think people realize how dominate Fla. has been because elite goalies have kept others in games.

Edmonton struggled when Dallas on the forecheck when they started playing heavy below the blue line. If they can't handle Dallas doing that they have .000001 chance vs Fla.
I have no idea whatsoever why some people accuse eastern fans of not watching any hockey other than their own team. Nope, no idea at all ...

This is honestly such an unforced error by the NHL. This delay is just ludicrous.

Oh, so let me get this straight. Western Conference fans know more about Eastern teams because the games are on at dinnertime?

First thing I want to do after a long day at work. Flick on the TV, ignore my family during dinner and watch a game involving a team that I really have no interest in.

And you just said it yourself too......NO INTEREST IN. So why would you know?

What are you talking about? Why would I know what?

Really curious to see the TV ratings on this series. Has the NHL lost momentum with its fans or have they built up more hype? Either way, the long wait sucks but I’d be curious how it plays to the general public.

The first one.

Definitely the first one, I can't find a single reason for why we've had to wait six days for the finals to start.

Was the NHL expecting Dallas to force a game 7 for Tuesday, and then when they didn't the league just got stubborn and refused to change the start date?

Considering McDavid is a 2.0PPG player in general, limiting him to just 9pts in 7 games is pretty darn good.

It was all due to ESPNs wants/needs for their TV schedule.

They probably had Professional Tag and a Dodgeball tournament scheduled for this week.

TLDR:
Barkov is basically the same thing as Rope Hintz
Tanev was injured but it doesn't matter
McDavid is a god and will just skate around everyone
Who is forsling lol
FLA will lose because EDM beat VAN

There you don't need to come back until after game 1

Well when you mischaracterize what was said, it does look a bit silly don’t it.

"Neutralized" McDavid still had 9 points in 7 games, and because the Canucks were so busy trying to limit McDavid, Draisaitl clapped them at a 2 points per game rate. He had 14 points against VAN.

When they're on their own lines, someone gets the 2nd pairing/2nd line matchup and you've just kinda got to pick your poison.

Also not taking anything away against Florida, but the three teams they faced were absolutely middling from a possession standpoint 5v5. Can't forecheck when the puck is in your zone.

Long week. I’m sure we all have lives, families, jobs, other hobbies and passions, I still look up in disbelief from time to time that this thing hasn’t started yet. Feels like one of the lengthiest waits in recent memory.

Honestly, it looked like McDavid was under the weather for a handful of games in the middle of that Vancouver series. He didn't look like himself and he sounded awful in his interviews.

Florida's consistent forecheck pressure is what is driving them but if EDM can break it and get the puck out okay plus, if that pressure results in taking stupid penalties as they are prone to doing at times, well, look out. We all know the Oilers PP. If this series is more penalty filled, playing that same style might not be the best idea. But Maurice has said that he will not change things. That's their style and they will live and die by it. Could be a good thing. But it could also be bad. It's up to EDM and how they handle it. If they can, they will make this very interesting. The way I see it, the first period will probably be tough for EDM but once the game settles down they will be fine I think.

Actually, it's probably because they didn't want to go head to head with the NBA Finals, which started last night, and still wanted to keep the Saturday HNIC slot.

Either way, a massive miss by the league and the ratings will suffer. Just a completely unforgiveable f*** up. They've probably already lost a big part of their normal audience with this delay.

They should have started Tuesday or Wednesday and had Game 2 tomorrow. Not perfect, but better than this.
