I just can't see the Oilers core letting this chance slip away. Would be happy to be proven wrong as I would like to see Florida take it but I can't bet against a team with McDavid and Draisaitl.

This is an absolutely ridiculous post filled with ignorant takes and somebody who clearly hasn't watched the Oilers play this postseason. You're using one game, in which the Oilers turtled, as the basis of your inherently flawed argument. That's a big enough sample size to pin your arbitrary argument on but the other 5 games in the series aren't? The other 17 games the Oilers have played in the playoffs aren't? The Oilers are a structured team. Every metric bears this out. Your arbitrary takes are just that, not facts.

As for sustainability, the Oilers' PP has been sustainable for going on 3 years now. Another bad take for you. The Oilers' PK has 28 kills in a row. Sustainable enough. Skinner's play isn't sustainable? Because you say so? He was terrible last playoffs and horrible up until being yanked against Vancouver but has been playing great hockey since then. Not exceptional, just great. He's providing solid goaltending in combination with the Oilers' structured defensive game which is more than sustainable.

As for your take on Bouchard... it just garners an lol. Watch the guy play hockey before offering this foolishness in an attempt to tear down the Oilers and give them no credit whatsoever.
All the other stuff aside, Bouchard is REALLY good

I wish the NHL would see this thread and finally realize that they cannot give such a long break for the SC to begin. Saturday can’t come soon enough, dear lord.
Yeh but the NHL doesn’t care about the fans, they care about their TV networks.

As a Oiler fan who has lived in Manitoba my whole life, I could listen to this guy talk hockey all day.. The Jets were lucky to have him

I’ve never had any interest in listening to a coach speak before. Not too many canned answers from him.

Edit: you don’t hear the initial question, but he’s speaking about Luostarainen at the beginning. (In case any were wondering)

Gonna be a hell of a series

At somebody who's had a "goaltending doesn't matter" shtick for almost ten years, Stuart Skinner is my hero.

A Skinner Cup would be the hope diamond of my collection.

In all my days I have never seen a second year goalie, coming off a calder finalist season with a career SV% of .910 get this level of disrespect lol.

He had a .923 against Dallas!

Well I atleast have some arguments to bring up. And the +/- reflects pretty well the difference between Florida and Edmonton defense.

I watched game 6 Edmonton vs Dallas and neither team really impressed me. Dallas looked a lot more energetic against Colorado and Vegas, and I guess that's the reason many, including me, thought they'd win the series against Oilers. That being said the Oilers looked just bad, they couldn't do anything 5v5 but turtle defense. Eventually that, a few goal posts and Skinner playing good was enough, but the Oilers got really lucky to win that one. You could argue that they were protecting the lead but it's not that, they we're hemmed into their own zone from the puck drop.

I don't think the Panthers have ran out of fuel at all, and are healthy, unlike the Stars, and if that group can dominate against Oilers 5v5 like they did in game 6, I wouldn't bet against the Panthers to be able to do much of the same.
Game 6 against the Stars and Game 1
against the Canucks were the Oilers 2 worst games of these playoffs by far.
If you are judging the Oilers by Game 6 of the Stars series then that is very short sighted.

I do t disagree the Panthers have the advantage at even strength but I guarantee you that the entirety of each game will not be at evens.

SCF is way too far away, why all of a sudden this year did the league decide to give the teams a week break??

Prob best for the teams but.. not a great change for an audience that is ready for it to get going.

FYI When polled 16 out 20 of the top hockey pundits in the media picked Florida to win the series. Vegas oddsmakers have Florida favored to win the series.

Will be interesting to see if the series gets greasy, and Florida wants to experiment with the Oilers PP.
Or they try what Dallas did and play soft, which goes away from their typical style.

Should be a great final ! 🤗

The Oilers are perfectly fine with either style of play.

One things for certain, the Panthers won't intimidate Edmonton

Last year the Panthers had 10 days off before the SCF. Vegas didn't have nearly that many. This year at least the time off is about the same.

True but Panthers players were also complitely broken. Now there is not that much injuries. Some small for sure, but anyway

It’ll get greasy for sure. Tkachuk will try to hump someone in the scrum then try to get gloved in the face to draw a penalty. At completely random times too, he’ll just choose whenever. I expect some fireworks after dirty hits too from the Cats. I’m just glad my Oilers have seen this type of grease many times before in the form of the Flames. I expect a mature response from the Oilers though this time around.

Imagine reading flawed and delusional media to form an opinion and bet money... 😂

As is often the case, this series will come down to special teams, which has been a major advantage for Florida through the first three series.

source: Panthers vs. Oilers Stanley Cup Final odds, prediction: Florida roughs up Connor McDavid

Even if one doesn't know hockey, you'd think they could check statistics.
#1. Oilers Playoff PP % = 37.3 (#6. Panthers 23.3)
#1. Oilers Playoff PK % = 93.9 (#2. Panthers 88.2)

In the playoffs the Cats had very few penalties because they were smarter not softer.

It’s not a matter of intimidation it’s a mater of grit that wears you down over time. Its very calculated to frustrate you and at the same time the Cats can pepper you with a deceptive offensive game that sneaks up on you. Good luck Edmonton your going to need it.

I'd love that: for entertainment value AND basically turning the series into a special teams matchup (advantage Oilers)

Maybe Game 1, but I really wonder if Maurice will let the boys run around.
