Well I've got you beat by a few years. :sarcasm:
Hmm, that's debatable :D
But seriously, Maurice could get canned if he doesn't get his team to the holy grail. I agree with you on that.
Gone forever if that occurred, I just know in my guts that won't happen.
NHL loves their 'seasoned' coaches.

Anyway, not really much point in us arguing over this further.

LOL what? Going up 3-0, getting shelled in game 4, came out flat game 5, lost 5-1 game 6. Game 7 on home ice and Florida has dropped 3 straight, outscored 18-5 over the last 3 games. On top of all that, they blew it in the final last year and now could also blow a 3-0 series lead at home in front of their fans. Edmonton dug themselves a 3-0 hole and have been rocketing themselves out of it. If they lose it will be disappointing but not crushing like it would be for FLA.

Going to game 7 and losing is crushing regardless of how you got there.

The only difference is that of legacies cemented if the Oilers win this one.

meh, there was missed calls both ways. Particularly Bennetts late hit after the whistle before the Panthers first PP, missed high stick on Perry and Drai, and other oiler I can't remember.

Panthers clearly thought they were winning in 4 and lost focus. Haven't been good enough since game 4. Now it's a one game winner take all. Panthers need a massive shift in frame of mind that they might not have, while the Oilers just need to keep doing what they have been doing.

What about the weak/missed calls that have benefited Florida? Like the Barkov dive for example?

I'm talking about something consequential. Both sides have gotten away with penalties all series, the standard has been all over the place within each game. Even tonight there's a slashing penalty called, then both sides proceeded to commit slashing penalties the rest of the game (by that standard).

I'm analyzing something consequential tonight, couple close too many men scenarios (after the bad miss last game) & Bennett clearly taken down on that goal.

Its a credit to EDM really, cause FLA needed a break to stay alive in the game with how EDM was defending & it went the other way. Doesn't mean it didn't happen or I can't analyze it. EDM still deserved the win I'm not saying otherwise.

Oh for sure Panthers fans would be more devastated in comparison, but at this point most Oilers fans are probably expecting to win, so a loss on Monday would still be pretty heartbreaking.
Nah we're not. Florida is a hell of a club. I think most of us believe in this team, but I'd never go as far as expecting anything. Gotta EARN it first.

Monday is gonna be devastating for one fanbase. Not going to be an easy night. I can easily see this going either way.

Florida is getting badly beaten all around, can’t imagine the pressure they’re feeling

They are not handling it well at all

absolutely devastating for this oiler fan. and very possible it could happen.

6 games in and it feels like we havent had a game where both teams brought their A games at the same time. Maybe games 1 and 2 but we're starved for a back and forth affair, hope we get it this monday.
Excellent point.

Despite going 7 games, this really hasn't been a great series. For reasons you mentioned.

If both teams are at their best, advantage Florida. Especially with that racous crowd.

6 games in, and this definitely sounds weird having been down 3-0, but the Canucks were somehow able to outplay or at least battle the Oilers to a greater extent than the Panthers, lol. Series felt more balanced somehow (again, weird considering how this SCF series started).

I also think J.T. Miller and Boeser had been more dangerous than anyone on the Panthers currently.

No disrespect to the Panthers. They can obviously still beat the Oilers and have players who can turn things around.
But this matchup just feels.. different?

Edmonton was probably thinking it's close enough to take a shot, and worst case scenario, they ask their pk units to bail them out, who happen to be killing everything in sight.

The home team has a clear advantage challenging a call because they usually have a team upstairs whose entire job it is to pour through every available replay and relay down to the bench if it should be challenged or not. The coach on the bench isn't making that call alone. Florida wouldn't have that same team available most likely being on the road. Just sour grapes from Maurice.

Well, Edmonton has played desperate hockey from game 4 onward after looking to be humiliated in a sweep. Now it's Florida's turn to show actual desperation now they're also on the brick or face even worse humiliation.

If they can't muster up a performance for game 7, they never deserved to win it to begin with.

all missed calls matter IMO

We won't see eye to eye on this. Just because the Oilers scored or the Panthers did doesn't make a missed call more or less important.Refs need more consistency, that I will agree with, however you are making it seem like the game hinged on those missed call against the Panthers. Which is simply not true. The Florida Panthers lost the last 3 games, not the refs.

With the Oilers' performance in the Finals in mind, I feel like Vancouver was not too far from making it to the end. Demko and who knows?
Vancouver was the best coached team we've faced thus far. That series was like watching a chess game between the two. I think the Dallas series Edmonton adjusted and Dallas never really changed back in response. We are seeing much the same so far in this series, but game 7 means it's anyone's game.

Just to be devil's advocate, if the appeal failed and resulting Panthers PP succeeded and gave them a boost on the scoreboard and on the momentum chart, we all know damned well there would have been an uproar directed at Oilers coaching staff.
It was a shrewd decision, and I still say it took guts even though the anemic Panthers PP was a factor.

PS
I still wish the offside review did not exist.
