Panthers fans will be much more devastated at a loss. Serious question, did anyone expect Oilers as a cup contender this year?

Oilers have a lot to be proud of regardless of outcome, but this was THE year for the Panthers, they'll never get a better chance than this.
Oh for sure Panthers fans would be more devastated in comparison, but at this point most Oilers fans are probably expecting to win, so a loss on Monday would still be pretty heartbreaking.

The knoblauch hire is one of the greatest hires of all time. Instantly turned their team into the best offensive and defensive team in the league, engineered the greatest PK we've ever seen, transformed their systems play overnight, and has totally and utterly outclassed every coach he's faced in the playoffs. One of the best coaching seasons in league history.
He's the man I wanted for the job this year as a Rangers fan over Laviolette. Always liked him.

Florida hasn't played an elimation game yet. Edmonton has played 5...including the last 3 straight. I think they have will have the mental advantage....regardless of what you say about psychologists ;)
But this is also the first game for the Oilers where they can actually win something. We will see who handles the pressure the better way. As I said, may the better team win.

There is no way Oilers lose Monday they face have all momentum and Paul Maurice had been getting badly out coached. Oilers made adjustments and he has just done nothing.

It also helps when they aren’t getting good goals overturned with bullshit lmao.

I think amongst the media and oiler fans, you could certainly hear a segment of them beating the oiler drum hard.

I never considered them to be a serious contender, but win or lose, I was obviously wrong.

He's already on his ninth life man, losing the SCF after going up 3-0 could kill this cat for good.
Well, I disagree. Lots of teams would bite on a guy that gets them to the playoffs.
You think a team like the Bluejackets wouldn't grab Maurice if they could? I've been watching this rodeo for many years.

Shit we have to wait 2 months and 3 days for the next game? At least it's on my birthday, would be nice if Cats won then.

Also just seems kind of insane a cup finals game is in the same week as the draft.

The first year I can remember them having 2 days off between every game past #4. I imagine this will be a thing going forward

it was a 5-1 game

It wasn't decided on the offside call, and if you make that argument it was a) 100% offside and b) How mentally weak and unprepared are the Panthers?

That & the missed calls prior to the 3-0 goal. A 2-1 game is within striking distance, Florida needed a jolt big time with how great EDM played defensively, once it became 3-0 that was it.

Maybe it's just me but anyone think Florida's RHD depth is actually pretty bad? Like bottom 10 in the league easily. Ekblad and Montour are both looking bad. Forsling is literally keeping their entire blueline together. Mikkola also looks good. OEL is fine. But their two best RHD are both looking awful and Kulikov is very whatever.

Nothing upto this point really matters now. Whichever team wins 1 game will be the Stanley Cup champions and that is all anyone will care about in the end.
Ultimately that's what matters sure, but Oilers will have outplayed the Panthers the majority of this series regardless of Mondays outcome.
