Interesting thing that i noticed. Just 5 years ago, Panthers had just 2 players from their current roster; Barkov and Ekblad
next season; 3 players; Barkov, Bobrovski, Ekblad, then next year the number was 12, then 15 and...

They have acquired most of their roster (and coaching staff) in just 3 last years...

4 years ago Panthers had 3 players from this seasons roster, Oilers had 10, next year it was 15 for EDM and 12 for Panthers.
I dunno, does anyone else think this was interesting but, i thought it was.

Its been super fast; current roster and coaching staff build and it has worked like a charm

Sure, its common, teams change every year, but still..

Also, most of their players are nonepanthers drafted players. Playing line up, theres just Barkov, Ekblad, Lundell
and Kulikov, who went back to Florida, after leaving them in 2016. (so really 3), Oilers have 10.

Put another goalie in the Florida net and they wouldn't have gotten past the Rangers to get to the cup final. Bobrovsky is the difference for the Panthers, there's no doubt he should win the Conn Smythe.
Shesterkin was better than him. So, you could have put Shesterkin on them, and they would have closed out the Rangers in less than 6 games and still go on to win the Cup.

I'd lean that Barkov has been their most valuable player.

I am not saying Bure is better. Read what I replied to. It's a hypothetical, as if to say who Barkov "may" be compared to as best Panther.

I think Barkov is the best Cat ever. Nothing to do with delusion. I was simply saying if there was someone else, my first guess would be Pavel.
I think most fans would say Luongo before Bure. When the board does a "Rushmore" he's on there more often iirc.

I’ll say it here as well but can we stop with the idea of that Edmonton would be leading the series if the goalies were changed?

Edmonton has nothing on Florida defensively, nothing

Florida has full buy in from their players
Florida’s lineup is full of 2way forwards
Floridas Dmen can clear the damm zone
You can't b serious with this ???

Bob is the reason Florida is up 3-0

Edmonton has been the better team 2 of the 3 games

Its pretty said when even hrudey admits it and he is the hugest flame homer going

Stop it, last year maybe, but Bob is not the reason we beat Rangers, we beat them beacuse we dominated them in pretty much every aspect.

To change it up a bit. It's nice to see Paul Maurice finally getting his time. That dude was trashed in WPG, both professionally and personally. He was never given credit even though he's a great hockey coach.

probably because the Jets under him were consistently one of the biggest underperformers relative to talent level, with terrible underlying stats that would suggest poor coaching

I mean you can say he's doing a good job now without revising history.

To think that I wasn't looking forward to the Stanley Cup Final because I didn't want to watch the Oilers win. I didn't even watch most of the first two games (just the highlights and 3rd periods) because of it. If I had any idea that this would happen, I would've watched every game from the beginning with popcorn ready.

It's a masterclass on what a GM / team can do If they are willing to make trades.

Bob is a HUGE reason, he’s not THE reason. Forecheck, back check, forecheck, back check, pass, shoot, score.

Edit: it’s an all team effort.

Bob? Or the fact that the Panthers are the better team even when playing in 2nd gear for most of the 3 games? Panthers are doing what they have to, scoring and controlling.

Has Edmonton really been that good? not so sure about that. Have not felt that worried at any point of this series to be honest.

Wasn’t the room a bit of a mess? Comparitovely, this room is incredibly strong.

It's crazy how easily they handled Dallas and now look completely over matched. Didn't think the Panthers were this much better than the stars. WTH happened to Dallas?

The Panthers are just such a complete team, top to bottom. I don't see any real areas of weakness on their roster. Did they have any concerns coming into the post-season? I can't recall.

Injuries to defensemen. Specifically Ekblad and Montour. Zito loaded up on getting a lot of D depth to counter this though.

Tkachuk injury and if he had fully recovered. I still don't think he has. But a slightly injured Tkachuk is still a good player.

Edmonton is beating themselves - thats the frustrating part about this finals.

FLA isn't outplaying anyone - in fact they are dominated for long stretches spending them wholly in the defensive zone. Correct me if I'm wrong - but FLA has spent the majority of each game in the D-Zone I believe.

They have simply been more opportunistic when Bouchard/Nurse or Skinner f*** up. Its always one of those 3. If Edmonton can somehow get those 3 to play 4 games of lights out hockey - its a reverse sweep.
