Free agent issues may have not technically been the right term, but if payroll doesn't get into the $150M range after this season I give up on Rogers.

If they tell me that payroll is not going up because this attendance isn't 'sustainable' in the long run I might throw up.

Also to actually answer this question, my attendance model (fml I actually have one) projects a best case of 3.35M fans, an average of 3.11M fans and a worst case of 2.88M fans.

So basically if the Jays are in contention all summer, yeah I'd say there's a very, very good chance they hit the 3.2M mark.

The attendance thing has been impressive all year, but this D-Backs series was really eye-opening: 88,000 for two mid-week games (one on a Wednesday afternoon) against a bad/boring non-divisional opponent? That's amazing.

I was skeptical of a massive attendance increase because I wasn't convinced that fans would show up for the first half of the season, before the excitement level really ramped up. It's great to have been proven wrong so emphatically. Maybe last year's run actually helped create a new generation of fans rather than just filling up the bandwagon.

What do you see the Jays trying to do to improve the club for a playoff run this year?

Literally don't need anything as long as they remain healthy. Backup 1B/DH is Smoak/Cola, backup infielders Barney/Goins, backup outfielder Carrerra/Pompey, backup catcher Thole :shakehead.

MRP - Grilli
MRP - Storen
MRP - Chavez
MRP - Biagini
SU - Sanchez
SU - Cecil
C - Osuna

Maybe grab a better left handed specialist than Loup?

Another starter for the post-season isn't a necessity with this offence and the BP clicking on all cylinders (and a Sanchez addition), but would be nice.

Stroman
Estrada
acquisition
Happ/Hutch

I'd be more comfortable with that

James Shields' numbers since he's been traded to the White Sox are hilariously awful.

It's a shame the Jays don't get to face him this weekend.

I understood the Wednesday (a lot of people I knew just ditched off work + giveaway) but 41K for a Tuesday night against Arizona? Madness - at around this time last year, the Jays drew 56K for their two game mid-week series against the Mets, with the Jays at 35-32 and two games out of first.

Fun Fact: the Jays lowest single game attendance this year 23,726 (a Tuesday night in late April against the White Sox). At this time last year, they had played 20 games in front of smaller crowds than that.

Even the two games against the Phillies brought in 82,744 over the two games.

A fair amount is spillover from last year, plus the Jays still be (somewhat) strong to start the year.

After the trade deadline last year I wanted to take my son to a game, but the tickets sold out fast to the weekend games, and I wasn't going to try and get to Toronto from Kitchener for an evening game (no siree).

So we found a weekend game this year and went to it. We had such a great time that I'm sure we would go again.

It really is amazing to see this team getting the fan support it is.

Adding another starting pitcher and bullpen arm. Hutch is in the minors for a reason, I'd like another pitcher to replace Sanchez spot this year and Dickey's spot for next season and a healthy lefty in the bullpen.

The playoffs we're rough last year as soon as Cecil was hurt, Loup wasn't available for personal reasons and then we were left using 3rd or 4th choices against some very good left handed hitters.

If we think Cecil, Loup, and Morales will be fine the rest of the year then perhaps just adding Sanchez to it is good enough.

On a more discussed note with Jr, will he be able to stick at 3rd(probably not). Just had an error.
