Sarnia Sting 2023-24 Season Thread (Part One)

Sting acquire OA, Kai Schwindt. Has been playing in the AHL/ECHL this year. Big kid at 6'4", 220. Big shot, plays with some jam/nastiness.

Only costs a 9th round pick. More than fine with this. Confirmed he's sent back as well. We can really throw the body around once we are healthy lol.

Hall, Kukumberg, Way, Moses, Schwindt, Schnieder. Big bodies who like to throw their weight around.


Also hearing we traded Del Bel Belluz for conditional pick.

Edit: and there's the DBB trade. Have heard it would become 2-3 picks if he comes. No 2nds.

Haha I’ve actually been on vacation. Haven’t caught a game since the W in PTB so I’ve just been reading here a bit and checking up on scores.

Sounds like we’ve come back down to earth pretty hard. I think we all got a little too excited at the hot start and now we are seeing the rest of the league take off after their slow starts and us cool down after playing a bit over our heads and having teams under estimate us.

Forecast doesn’t look good sting fans! That top 3-4 pick may be absolutely required if this keeps up!

I think we will only see the 15th round pick. He’s got 5 points in 6 games in the AHL.

Yesterday sucked but this was fun. If anything with their additions of Moses, Schnieder & Schwindt we should be quite nasty to play against with Way, Hall, Kukumberg also being physical.

Definitely think (and they'd be correct) that they've been pushed around a bit the last month. Not a coincidence it's come with Moses, Kukumberg being out too. Miss that energy & relentless effort.

Why is Lominac on L2 and Brown on L3.

Lomincac is actually awful... the guy gets so much ice time and literally does nothing.

I don't mind Lominac. Hes definitely a bit hit or miss, but he battles. He's gotten quite a few chances just has had 0 finish. Thought last night he was fairly solid. Had a good chance in the 3rd. Set Filak up for one in the 2nd.

Think it's taken him awhile to adjust to the speed of the league & not being able to do stuff he could last yr. I appreciate how he's tried being more chippy the last 2-3 weeks.

But absolutely he shouldn't be in the T6 over Brown. Horrendous decision. Completely limiting Brown who's top 2or3 on the team for skill, creativity by putting him L3 with Way.

Was reading the article about today's trade. And Seca mentioned at the end that we are going to be hanging on to Voit's rights. He kinda made it sound like he thinks there could still be a chance he comes back. If Voit did return that would be huge for our rebuild. We would be able to get a good 16-17 year old plus about 3 or 4 picks.

Would definitely be nice. Honestly he should be sent back. He still has things to work on & now is starting way behind while trying to make such a big jump to the pros..

Be huge. Would definitely get a couple high picks. Not holding my breath as usual but If he remains out a couple more weeks it may be the move for Toronto.

Was reading the article about today's trade. And Seca mentioned at the end that we are going to be hanging on to Voit's rights. He kinda made it sound like he thinks there could still be a chance he comes back. If Voit did return that would be huge for our rebuild. We would be able to get a good 16-17 year old plus about 3 or 4 picks.

Getting back voit would accelerate our rebuild by a year... if Seca does it right.... next year is going to be tough regardless.... but if he can get a return like Mississauga got - Martone .... We'd be in really good shape moving forward.

Can't make any sense of Wainwright being moved to wing. At all. His speed down the middle is such a threat and opens up so much space for his wingers. Better at draws than Filak. Gonna be our 1C next yr so why tf would u not want him at C now

Also, Hall is at wing when he's at ridiculous 66% (!) In faceoffs (only 15 to be fair).

Actually, I can't remember the last time this team had a 2-1 rush ...The power play is some of the worst 5 on 4 play I've ever seen... We knew this was coming but damn this team is very hard to watch... They need to open it up a bit the thing is I don't know if they can with the personnel. Lol we've got Brown playing with Way and Hall who have combined for 4 goals on the year... Get Brown up there on the 1st or 2nd line like C'mon.

Reached the point where they r trying but can't do anything right. Passing looks terrible. Can't execute or finish plays.

Impossible for any one player to look good when the entire team can't do anything. No speed. No pace. Nothing.

Oh how I miss watching last year's team.
