Sarnia Sting 2023-24 Season Thread (Part One)

They can't do anything right at the moment. Their passing especially if brutal and it's killing our transition offense. Our few speedy Fs can't get it going because they don't get it cleanly.

The D is trying but their to young. Don't have a stabilizer out there & it shows. Asking Hurt to play Sapovaliv, Misa is crazy tough. Fischer can't carry a pair at 17.

Surzycia is battling. Has no chance on almost all these goals every night. Special teams are struggling mightily.

They are just beginning there really hard schedule too. This will get real ugly. Expected it but the start blinded us a bit.

Hopefully get some picks for our 19 yr olds & hope for a break in the lottery.

From what I've read no matter where we'd pick top 4 we'd get a helluva player. The #1 kid (Wasslyn) is a step above the rest tho.

But that's a ways away lol. Hopefully we can get some picks for the other rounds in the coming weeks. I'm open to fully selling. May as well bottom out. Easiest way to build it up to a contender.

Filak, Doucette, Vilmanis, LeBlanc's all would have decent value. Doubt we see Sikic moved but maybe a contender needing a 3rd OA doesn't wanna spend a ton on it & would be willing to take him a for a 4th or something like that.

Bring up Denney (had 2A tn), Beamish (1A tn) who've been unreal. Give the rookies here a consistent shift.

Is the draft order done by Lottery?
 
Just kind of browsing and looking at what the team could look like next year and it is not good. Especially up front. Were looking at possibly another lottery team next year too... meanwhile Martone is probably going to score 100 goals the next 2 years.

I'm good with it. Whatever really. Giving Doherty, Sim, Lominac legit shots. Guelph best defensive team. Might be worth it to bring a pillow.

Was just told by someone I know who is a season ticket holder. And they said Kumkumberg sat behind them at the last home game. And they were talking and apparently he said he's not hurt and that the team just isn't playing him. If that's true it wouldn't be the first time.

That would also explain why we haven't had any injury updates for him.

Really? Kitchener is loaded and they have a great coach. PTBO has a decent roster led by Beck and the East isnt good. Were about 1/3rd into the season here so teams kinda are what they are by now.... IMO Kitchener is the best team in the O ... I'd be shocked If they regressed to the middle of the pack. Also PTBO is going to finish either 1 or 2 in the East... PTBO may be inclined to trade at the deadline tho. Just my opinion.

East (division) maybe, but when Beck & Mayer are moved the Petes will likely drop fast.

We've got our B card Singh from this past draft in our top 4 for today and yesterday Kitchener put up 6... not so sure it will be a defensive juggernaut.

Be very hard to believe. Especially when he came back @ Brantford, had an assist them left the game in the 1st and didn't return. Also can't see them willingly playing 10Fs multiple times with a healthy F who's played well.
 
Atta way Hurt. Helluva tilt. Dude leaped at LeBlanc. Ridiculous it isn't charging. Best period in weeks and it's tied. Give up 2 slam dunk goals.

Vilmanis got it going today hopefully other teams r watching.

Really liking Sim today. Whenever they put him in the T9 he stands out. Need more of it. Lominac been decent. Barr been really solid as have most of the D really outside the 2 goals.

Chartier been playing the puck really well today. Be a nice trait if he has it. Been sharp as well. See what they got in the 3rd.

Not a great goal but I also don't blame him as he probably wasn't ready for their best shooter to be alone in the slot when 3 seconds prior we had it full control with 0 pressure. Just a total meltdown.

Bad teams find ways to lose. We did just that today.

Fair enough. Question for you what would you do with the PP right now? I saw they were rotating some guys today. Do you give the young guys a chance soon?

I'm a Flyers fan & one of the guys I really like listening to said recently the odds your PP is ever good or consistent when you simply don't have the talent is low. Philly PP is also horrible & lacks talent.

I view the Sting like that too. I said it weeks ago when Vilmanis (who can barely hit the net), Sikic (has an average shot & isn't a PP guy) are your main puck carriers it's an issue. Add in your other options are Filak (grinder), Doucette (speedy grinder), Way (grinder), Wainwright (more of an off the rush threat) your pretty much screwed. They simply can't make passes that are difficult which makes them predictable & they don't have a guy who can walk into a shot & beat the goalie clean like Pastujov, DBB could

Not a coincidence the best PPs rn are SAG, LDN, KIT, OS, SSM.

For me A. LeBlanc should be one of the main puck handlers. Better touch, hands, vision than most of the team. Brown when healthy another one. Gotta use the guys down low more, too. This 3 high thing fricken sucks. Only works if the 3 high are elite (Voit/Kyrou/Pastujov).. J. LeBlanc has to shoot more from the top. Young was firing today which was good.

Could maybe use Sim on PP2 since he has nice hands & sees the ice well. Outside that not much. They don't have the talent & at the moment they have 0 confidence which makes it even worse.
