Startford's regular season is over.

Denney finishes with 33G (2nd in GOJHL & one of only 4 to hit 30G) & 18A in 47GP. Finishes 17th in overall scoring. 7th among 18U players.

Bridgewater finishes with 6G/21A for 27 points in 32 games. 7th in rookie D scoring despite missing 18 games.

Soares has 1 more game left. Has 21G/18A for 39 points in 52 games. 11th in rookie scoring & 6th for goals.

Hopefully those guys have great playoff runs with their teams.

To be a 900 plus save percentage goalie, you need to have a defensively sound team. The OHL is a scoring league. There are 6 regular starters that are above 900 and they almost all play for contenders.

Most definitely. I'm not complaining we don't have one this year. It would take one helluva goalie to have a .900+ on any bottom 5 team let alone one with such a young defense.

Just more so hoping we can develop Chartier/Maillet/Gillis into one or get one eventually cause it's frustrating to always be iffy on your goaltending and we have been for 6-7 years.

Luckily haven't had atrocious goaltending like Erie per say, but not elite like other.

I think you need to manage expectations. Both your goalies are very good. Sarnia has had 18 games this year where you scored 4 or more goals. You are 15-3 when that happens. When you score 3 or less, you are 8-28-4.

The OHL is a scoring league. Very few games are 2 or less goals given up and defiantly not with 5 D under 18. GAA average in the OHL is mid 3s. Last year your team scored a lot and you could afford to give up 3, but not this year. Your expectation is that your goalies will be pitching games with 2 or less goals against and that is just not reality on most OHL teams. With 9 rookies in your line up, who have never played in the OHL prior to this year, I am surprised you have played as well as you have.

Evan Maillet made his final start of the season tonight stopping 42/46 shots in a 4-3 double OT loss. He finishes with a 3.59 GAA and .904 save percentage in 22 games. The Toronto Patriots season is over so Maillet is free to come practice/play with the Sting

I'm good with whatever development path leads to this team having a good starting goalie.

Pretty frustrating we never have one with over a .900. probably have to go back to Fazio in 2018 for that. Be great to just have that reliable, consistent guy back there.

Gaudreau never became that. Surzycia isn't. Thornton showed flashes as a backup and was as a starter in Barrie. Langevin wasn't. Gotta get a legit goalie. Look at the finals last yr. Look at a lot of the best team now.

Quinlan is easily the highest upside of the goalies in the system. Hopefully they can convince him to come. Promise him more starts in his draft yr.

If not definitely have to considering taking one in the import draft (the 2nd pick not 1st.) I'm just not sure it would be the right move as usually they're 18 and I'd want a G who's here next yr, the following yr & the next one when the "07s are all 19.
I could definitely see them taking a goalie in the first four rounds of the draft this year if they're not fully confident that they can get Quinlan to come over. I doubt we see Quinlan next year but maybe we do in 25-26 when he is out of the USNDTP. I would be scared to take a goalie in the import draft because the ones that come over usually aren't top end prospects. If you can get one of the high end guys to come over I would do it

Who is that and where is Schneider?
Poor Surzycia should have played last night now goes with this Backend.
Let's hope for a over achieved effort today

Does it sound like MacDonald will be back at all, we sure could use a defensive defenseman around our net

I'm not OK with Stupid penalties against top pp teams when game is close.
cant compete is continually taking lazy penalties in other teams end.

Seca didn't sound confident he'd be able to return unfortunately. Cajkovic was a possibility. Barr hopefully next week.

Haven't been able to watch. How has O'Toole looked? Just crazy the revolving door on D in the 2nd half.

3rd game in 4 showing on Fischer and young just making tired plays and mentally reaction time looks very delayed but Soo is an older way older team.
Few soft goals but giving up 2 short handed goals is example of being mentally drained.

Skimmed thru the game during intermission & have watched the 3rd.

5on5 honestly not a bad game from them. Just got crushed on special teams which isn't all that surprising with the inexperience especially on D.

Man oh man does Kostuch look like he'll be a big time player. 3rd multi-point game in a week vs NB, SBY & SSM. 3 elite teams. Now has 14 points in 23 games here. 11th in U16 scoring.

Fischer gonna sleep good this week. Absurd minutes he's playing as a 17 yr old. Still don't mind Andersen at all. Obviously has to improve but love the fiesty, snarl he brings. Hurt goes +1 even in a lopsided loss. Thought O'Toole was fine for a late call up. Looks pretty limited but played with some jam. See if he pushes for a spot in August.

8 games left

Otoole was good crisp passes and played better than Anderson with his limited ice being 1st game. 123 pims in JR A hope to see him in lineup against london and bunch more games this year.
Pk very passive hard to stop a team like Soo special teams.
Tough to judge played some beefed up teams this weekend.
3 goals every game for just not enough to be in games against top end teams.

Time to start to move towards next year and hope needs get addressed like physicality/ toughness/ more IQ players with speed and young guys need to have huge off seasons with off ice trainers.
Come back with more size and strength and ready to take another step forward.

Maybe some guys go in off season and forsure some will come in. We trust DS he knows what we need... a D coach is a Must.

Surzycia should've had goals 4,5 and 7 but he's also got a young D core infront of him so did Chartier.
Seriously, you are laying that game on your goalie?

3 PP goals and 2 short handed goals aren't going to win you very many hockey games. Your goalies can only do so much. You had 4 - 16 year old D men in the game today and a total of 10 rookies. Your 17 year old defenceman probably played close to 30 minutes. Goals 2, 3, and 5 were PP goals and goals 6 and 7 were short handed. You need to manage expectations.

After gutting the team last year for 5 or 6 wks of decent hockey we all should have known this would be the result.

I did not blame it all on Surzycia. But yes I will question him a bit. Especially after allowing 32 goals in his last 5.1 appearances. And he should've had goals 4 and 5 at least. Both of them where from beside the net almost at the red line. That is bad positioning but yes are D being so young has not helped either of are goalies.

Honestly have not given nearly enough love to Doucette this year. Walk on free agent last year has 4G/4A as a checker & this year he leads us in goals with 21 & has 20 assists.

He's been pretty damn good lately with 7 goals & 9 assists his last 17 games. - a million but I don't really care about that when your on such a young team.

Huge leap in production. Love his effort, speed & his shot has come a long way. Should be a really solid OA next year.

Doucette gets pick of linemates and coaches top line minutes pk and pp going to produce and good for him crom where he came from. He is good player and clearly in coaches list of favourites. I think he will be solid OA with some conplimental linemates next year could light things up.
Pretty serious +/- though for the coaches top favourite for pk and defensive situations with his point total and goals you would think be better in +/- lead team in minus? Defensive play questionable but guess on this board we only talk about players that score goals.

Not sure what happened to Wainwright this year came out after injury to start season has 23 pts in 13 games then slid and came back in early feb to go 8 in 4 games again and now cold, that entire combo of wainwright and Brown frostbite right now.
just expected to cover defensive role now, we need him to score.
