Chartier doesn't play for 10 games then goes back to back just the worst coaching decisions I have seen. Setting up poor kid to get confidence crushed.
Not to mention Anderson getting scorched.
having average (at best) 20 year olds that soak up the icetime just knew wasn't going to be a good weekend for us.

Also, what in the heck does Seca see in Cooper way and sikic , both are complete garbage
The Sting have 9 rookies in the lineup tonight, playing against one of the top teams in the league. I hope they don't win another game this year! We need a top pick going forward to help the rebuild. Also not sure why #9 plays at this level of hockey! His skating alone is at best peewee level, and shouldn't even be in the O let alone the C of the team. At least Sikic is a serviceable player

Is this real? Haha what a joke this franchise is. I get we are suppose to be bad this year but this is a Jr b team at best

I understand they have 9 rookies in. Which is why this franchise is a complete joke. This should never happen. No way they are learning anything positive from this s h I t show

Hkybeegs3 quit trolling you know team is youngest in league and will be way better next year when other guys play biggar minutes cause 20 year olds we have now are gone.

Flint gonna win. Be 6PT difference with another loss probable on Sunday @ SSM.

Pretty damn near a lock they aren't gonna make it now.

Be 10% chance at 1st pick in the lottery. Hopefully can move up to 2or3 & ensure they got one of the top 3 Fs (Belchetz, Valentini, Wassilyn)

Also, lominac is not an ohl calibre player.

Not trolling , they aren't going to be better next year either.

Please explain to me how they will be better next year?

I'm sorry if this sounds mean but I have had it with Lominac. And it looks bad on the coach's when he take another stupid penalty that causes 2 goals and then still get's a regular shift.

Also, are you sold on what our goaltending will be for the next 2 years?
We havent seen mailett, chartier is a ben gaudreau type player. Has really good games and has some like tonight.
It's the lack of defense coach all year I see being a problem for next season. But I do think D top 4 will be so much better and with Barr back and hopefully a 20 year old D that can play the team will easily be better with a good solid Import pick a 1st round Forward top 4 pick.
Sure it's not an all in year next year but will be alot more guys with bigger roles that can actually play those bigger roles and put up numbers.
Letang needs to examine what he helped with and what his short comings are(like continually playing his 20 year olds way too much) and watering down 3 lines and pp / play you guys cause they make team better not just cause they are older.
That being said I think Seca addressing teams short comings and gets some bigger peices and we are instantly better
Just dont see Surzycia stays as OA as our bigger need is 20 year old D.

Letang doesnt discipline team, doesn't hold them accountable nor reward players for playing how they want. Just plays his oldest guys ALOT

Over his first 6 games Chartier had an .883 save percentage.

Over his last 16 games he has an .839 save percentage.

It's going to take significant work to make Chartier an OHL backup next year let alone a starter. He's way too overaggressive with his movements, doesn't face adversity well, and often starts poking backs at opponents when they give him an extra shot. So much to clean up. For that reason I want to see Maillet play a few games down the stretch with the Sting pretty much out of the race. You need to see what you have in him.

The team has to learn to be more patient with goalies. Making Chartier go from U18 to the OHL was a terrible idea. He should have been playing Jr A or Jr B somewhere this year

I'd probably disagree on the last part. He spent a yr elsewhere. Did it well. Played great in camp & pre season..started fairly well.

Obviously he's struggled in the 2nd half but he's been against a lot of elite teams behind a weak/young defense. He kept them in it yesterday still has terrible sv%. He kept SBY at 3 with some amazing saves then they totally fell apart. I didn't hate any of the G's on him tonight.

But it's why he didn't start much lately. They've been working on refining things and it has shown. Much more calm in the net. Certainly is no guarantee to be a starter. Has the tools. But has work to do.

Do agree on wanting to see Maillet. Gotta think if they lose Sunday & FLT wins again & moves to 8 they'll know it's done & throw him in vs KGN or MIS. They should anyways but maybe be more realistic if it's 7or8 pts. Maybe we see an import G for the first time in forever? Doubt they'd wanna use it on that tho

Frankly them being in the race for 7th up until 2 weeks ago was a shocker to me anyways. Especially with the injuries. All the 2nd half is about is the U17s & Brown, Kostuch, Doherty, Hurt, Fischer have been great. Bridgewater showed well. Andersen getting experience.

Spending a year in U18 is not the same as spending a year in the Jr A or Jr B loop though. Whenever you see guys making their debuts from those loops you always here them mention how much faster the game is and that's coming from players in leagues better than a U18 league. It's a pretty massive jump to come to the O from U18.

Chartier has an .851 save percentage which is third worst in the league among goalies who've played more than 10 games. Only Jacob Gibbons (Erie, .822) and Corbin Votary (Owen Sound, .850) are worse.

You mentioned his reps and who he's playing in front as a part of his struggles which is true. That's also why he shouldn't have been forced into this role.

Just using them as an example but send him to say Stratford (good team that has a few of our prospects) let him play 35+ games with them to get more experience and gain some more consistency. He plays in a front of a good team so his confidence doesn't get wrecked and they can identify the kinks in his game that we've seen this season. The team always knew this was a risk throwing him in the net with a bad team in front of him

Didn't really have a chance to comment on the last three games so here are my thoughts:

6-5 win over NB - Loved the resiliency they showed. Good job to keep pushing against a tired team that's had some trouble closing out games. Awesome to see Kostuch have a big game against his former team. Win put us in a good position heading into this week (only 2 points back of Flint at the time).

6-2 loss against NB - Surprised to see Chartier get the start. Thought it would Surzycia after he beat NB on Sunday. Not surprised that NB dominated us. You knew they were going to have a fire under their butt after the way the last game ended. Chartier played a good game to keep us in it for most of the night.

10-3 loss against SBY - Second straight night with a terrible start. Can't go down 3-0 against great teams like NB and SBY. Similar problem to the Family Day against the Soo where they couldn't stop the bleeding. Got it back to 3-2 but then allowed three goals in 48 seconds

Despite some rough results I continue to be encouraged by the results of our young players.

Fischer's offensive game has picked up with 11 PTS in the last 11 GP including some better results on the PP. Doherty's progress continues to make me excited for he can become over the next few years. Over his last 9 games, he has 6 points (4G, 2A) and +2 rating. Kostuch had his first multi-point game vs NB on Sunday and his multi-goal game tonight. Now up to 12 points in 22 games with the Sting. Don't think you could ask for much more from him since he's been traded here.

Not too worried about the defensive problems. Most of that stems from having to play our top four guys so much because of the injuries to Barr, Cajkovic, and MacDonald. Andersen and Bridgewater have good potential but aren't OHL d-men yet. Schneider isn't good enough for the O. So they can only put those guys out on the ice so much. Our top four d-men have been playing probably 25+ minutes each over the last nine games which obviously is going to cause fatigue. Hopefully Barr can return fairly soon to help ease the defensive woes

Sorry for the essay LOL

in his 10 appearances vs non elite teams he has a 0.894. take out his worst performance of the bunch vs Erie he has a 0.906.

Obviously small sample but as sad as it is in this league a 0.894 would have him 14th (taking out the kids who've only see. 1or2 appearances.)

Now is that fair to only count games vs bad teams? No. He's gotta play good teams too, but for me you develop and make a kid better a rookie by giving him mainly "easier" opponents.

Which is what Sarnia was doing to start the year! They were doing it right. Then in the 2nd half they've totally gotten away from it I'd assume because they wanted to make the playoffs & now he's played SBY NB SOO OTT SOO ER LDN SBY. He's gotten bludgeoned in those games. Did he let in bad goals in those? For sure. But there aren't many Gs in the league who wouldn't of been caved in for most of those games behind this Dcore.

I'm not saying he's a legit goalie..I agree wholeheartedly he has to work on things. I thought yesterday he showed real progress in staying calm, poised, under control. He needs a big summer. But I don't think they've done him any favours the last 3 months.

Fully agree. Love what I'm seeing from Doherty. He's really showcasing a nice skillset. He's really strong on his skates & on the puck. Great skater. Solid hands. Powerful shot. Hopefully he keeps improving cause he could become a really nice player.

Ppl were fooling themselves if they didn't anticipate these type of games. They have the youngest Dcore in the conference and lost MacDonald (19), Cajkovic (18) + Barr who was playing really well as a rookie. They stand 0 chance vs players like Romani, Wakely, Musty, Goyette, Dvorsky. They're 18-19 elite players.

As u said fatigue sets in. Fischer looked exhausted tonight. Led to bad giveaways. Hurts playing a ton. Schneider wouldn't be here if others were healthy. Same with Andersen. Omeri wouldn't be top pair & so on.

All that matters is progress & we've seen it a ton from many U17s. Now let's add some high end pieces at the drafts upcoming to a solid U17 core group.

Team is a work in progress, as stated many times our coach doesnt see offensive value and plays wrong guys in wrong roles EG Way all year should have been with young checkers like hall and lominac to show them the ropes.
Guess goes to coaches not seeing talent and limitations and useful roles for OAs Way should have been a teaching role. Sikic should have been with Wainwright to help him take over top Centerman role next few years surrounded with offensive players not stuck on 3th line with Moses even had a run on 4th line (that's how Letang treats his future). 3 offensive guys for future should have been together develop a #1 line in rebuild now have to wait til next year ans hope that happens.
just don't see Letang's eye for talent he sees 20 year old as his talent but that's not the case and showing. Have to play talent in roles they can help team. Parking doherty all year on 4th line isnt getting him where we could have had him in Dec.
just not a coach IMO and have always said that isn't a good judge of talent ot potential. 20 year olds aren't always your top 6 guys and playing them top 6 will eventually hurt your future, I see that now, we are behind already going into next year.

what do you mean? They're over agers and can't play in the O next year ... sorry I mis-read your post... I can't delete so I just edited it.

Last nights games basically puts a fork in the buzzers playoff chances.... Probably for the best... Buzz would gain nothing from being hammered 4 straight by LDN.... Nail the draft, have some guys develop and possibly steal a guy from the usa..... come in flying next year.

I agree that they haven't done him many favours with the opponents he's faced lately but you did know that was a possibility coming into the year. Surzycia had only played 30 OHL games and had never been a starter. It was always possible that Chartier could have been splitting with Surzycia instead of backing up. I think they would have been better off acquiring a veteran goalie as a stopgap for this year. Goalies often have a longer development path than forwards or d-men. I'm always in favour of making sure that guys are ready before you throw them into the fire

I'm good with whatever development path leads to this team having a good starting goalie.

Pretty frustrating we never have one with over a .900. probably have to go back to Fazio in 2018 for that. Be great to just have that reliable, consistent guy back there.

Gaudreau never became that. Surzycia isn't. Thornton showed flashes as a backup and was as a starter in Barrie. Langevin wasn't. Gotta get a legit goalie. Look at the finals last yr. Look at a lot of the best team now.

Quinlan is easily the highest upside of the goalies in the system. Hopefully they can convince him to come. Promise him more starts in his draft yr.

If not definitely have to considering taking one in the import draft (the 2nd pick not 1st.) I'm just not sure it would be the right move as usually they're 18 and I'd want a G who's here next yr, the following yr & the next one when the "07s are all 19.
