jefferies is a down grade from
Agree about Doherty I wouldn't mind seeing him with Wainwright and Brown for a game or 2.
Doherty played with wainwright and brown the game he had 2 goals against Erie. That was a good line responsible for 4 of of the goals.
definitely should keep doherty there and drop moses. Just better with helping wainwright and browns offensive threat as moses and his skillset better used with Hall and lominac/sim

The line was Kostuch-Wainwright-Doherty in a 6-4 win over Erie. Brown wasn''t on that line

As much as Omeri has grown on me it's hard not to think he won't be the odd man out at some point.

Fischer
Young
Barr
Hurt

Guaranteed top 4 for the next 2 years (unless they moved Young, but I wouldn't do that unless he stagnates or regresses this summer)

Bridgewater has great potential & will definitely be on the team next year unless he really stagnates. That makes 5.

Obviously only 1 game so can't say Andersen is any guarantee but them signing him tells u they think he's apart of the future. That's 6.

Schneider isn't anything more than a 7th D but I don't mind having his size & physicality with all these young guys especially if he can work on his puck management. That's 7.

Timmins & McNally have had solid years as 16 yr olds & they'll draft at least another 1or2 this year that they'll like especially as it sounds like a good D draft.

As I said he's grown on me. He's a trooper..love his energy on the bench & he's handled top pair minutes fairly well. Just feels like he might fall victim to the numbers game unless he really takes a step which is definitely possible.

Good problem to have at least.

D looks pretty solid for top 4
Still not sure I'd keep filak as OA next year when glaring need would be 20 year Old D since we didn't have one this year to help steady the D.

Think value wise Doucette and Surzycia as OA bring most value and the need for a mentor 20 year old D would be huge. But again I Think DS is a loyal type guy and will keep all 3 of our OAs
We also need toughness upfront. We lack that right now ans going into next year.

Think that's why you'd see them keep Filak. He brings some grit + should score 20+ this year.

But that's one area losing Way, Schwindt hurts a lot. Some size & jam. Be Filak, Moses & Hall. Outside that your talking Brown, Wainwright, Kostuch, Doherty, Doucette, Sim, Lominac, import or two, Luecke & whoever their top picks are. Not a big group of guys or a group that throws the body a ton.

So grit/physicality will definitely need to be addressed but maybe not next yr as it'll be another building season. It'll be interesting to see if they try to add any Fs before next yr (like they did with the twins, Moses) or if they'll let Doherty, Hall, Sim, Lominac, Denney, Soares & whatever other young guys emerge battle for spots.

Andersen is on a 10 game AP card this year so can play legionnaires and Sting for up to those 10 games
him back with Legionnaires doesn't mean Barr is Back still think they will be cautious with his return

Big couple of weeks for us starting tonight in kitchener.
I'm still betting same lines but I think chartier will go this one.

According to the lineup sheet it's
Kostuch-Sikic-Doucette
Brown-Filak-Schwindt
Lominac-Wainwright-Moses
Hall-Way-Doherty

Fischer-Omeri
Young-Hurt
Barr-Andersen

Surzycia

My god do they ever ask Wainwright to carry the load on his lines. Would it hurt to ever throw him with other older players? Understand the thinking but your limiting his ceiling for impact.

In saying that I like Kostuch and Brown being with vets. Talk about an inexperienced Dcore vs one of the more lethal teams. 3 16 yr olds, 2 17 yr olds. Not 1 guy with more then 1.5 seasons of experience.

Honestly thought Chartier would start tonight too but frankly not that upset by surzycia starting. Good odds they're getting scorched tonight. Would prefer Chartier not get that in his 1st game back.

I get what your saying about Chartier. But you could make that case for the next 6 games. So are we just going to sit him for 6 more games. I feel like the reason there still playing Surzycia is the fact there still trying to make the playoffs. And the fact is are chances are pretty slim and I think if Flint wins tonight I think it's over.

I think eventually you have to load up your top two lines and figure out the bottom six from there. Trying to make the lines balanced isn't working. Top 6 could look like this:

Schwindt-Wainwright-Sikic
Brown-Filak-Doucette

For the bottom six try to mix some experience with the young guys:

Kostuch-Way-Doherty
Lominac/Sim-Hall-Moses

Seems like Barr might not be in tonight after all. He's listed as the extra skater for warmups. Could be seeing 13F/5D. I have a feeling tonight will be ugly

I know I keep bringing it up but it's insane how much better Doherty looks in the last 3 weeks compared to the rest of the season. Every shift he's noticeable. Using his speed & low-key good strength on the puck. Really do wish they'd throw him up in the T9.

Hall has a pretty good shot. Something he'll need to work on in the summer is getting better at using it & getting to those areas. Thought Kostuch was awesome that PD too.

Pretty good period tho. Lominac fight seemed to spark them a bit. While I love the snarl & his new found ability to do it don't need Fischer fighting. Now u have 4D (3 rookies) for 5 minutes.

Schwindt hurt his wrist in the 1st. Hasn't returned. Be another big loss. Hopefully not to serious.

He's at the hospital. So he might've suffered a skate cut. Scary. Hopefully not severe.

Dumb penalties will cost them this game. They are getting chances just can’t bury them.

They hung in there as long as they could. 5D 3 of which rookies vs a top team like KIT. Was only gonna be a matter of time. Hopefully Schwindt is alright.

Probably Lominac's best game in the league. Hits, fight, drawn penalty, multiple good chances. Kostuch was really good too. Another fine game from Andersen. +1 & had to play a bit more with only 5D.

Flint loses a heartbreaker late so remains a 4pt difference

Hopefully we finally see Chartier Sunday. I'm not blaming Surzycia for all the goals but he has allowed 17 goals in his last 3 starts. I think it's time to give Chartier a chance especially since he's only had 15 starts this year. Hard to judge his upside with that many starts. Also really hoping to see Maillet get a game soon.

Windsor comes back to beat Guelph in OT. Windsor is now 5pts back of us with a game in hand.

Your goalie saw 47 shots tonight saving 40, of which, 2 were PP goals, one was a breakaway, 2 were 2 on1s and ones was effectively a 3 on 1 down low. I don't think goaltending was your issue.

Letang continually shafts his alternate captain poor Wainwright just doesn't get much help, goes 10 games with points and then letang gives him 4th line guys hope the frustration I see last 5 games doesnt set his game back or sour his taste to come back.
Well watching game goals were on bad plays by D or giveaways.
Just inexperienced mental mistakes.
Watching the Bench after a goal against makes me nervous as no dialogue from staff to help correct. Think again that's huge issue for us that's what iPads are for now with kai done for while Sim is in.
My 2 cents is playing with wainwright got doherty going...loving his game get him on 3rd line... moses to 4th... easy decision.

Goal tending wasn't an issue at all, generating sustained pressure and inexperience on backend was.. I only say backend because 5 goals were direct result of a mental mistake by a D or in D zone. Weak pass serve up pizzas on tape or D caught up and forward didn't bother to watch 2 on 1 develop and misplayed his assignment or super late realizing they needed to cover D isn't always about themselves play 200 ft game.
Clean this stuff up and will be in alot more games that's forsure against top end teams too.
