.... No Kyrou or Vilmanis tonight..

Meanwhile Ritchie surprisingly is in.

What the hell... surely there isn't an illness still going thru the team...

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is. I’ve heard of a lot of people getting sick in the area the last couple of weeks.

Sting must play like they did in the 3rd period and OT in game 6 against Guelph. If they do that from puck drop and stay disciplined they should win. Hopefully they made some positive adjustments to the powerplay. Gaudreau needs to be sharp. Go Sting Go!

Younger guy at work just got over strep throat. That and the cold are definitely going around. Hopefully it doesn’t spread more.

Solid period. We r getting to the front of the net a ton. Keep that up & I love our chances to score.

Gaudreau sharp. L4 was absolutely buzzing. 71 with some huge hits!

Not so good of a period. A lot of standing around. Couple guys look like they have no extra jump or energy & the ones who do really stick out

Idk I think besides the 4th the effort isn’t there for playoffs. Not skating quick enough or getting pucks on net quicker enough,

BENNY BENNY BENNY!! Let's goo. What a masterclass of a 3rd period. We absolutely bullied them. 3or4 huge hits. Won every battle.

SO happy Filak & Wainwright scored. Both of them skated their asses off. Filak goal he cancels out the icing, wins a battle, wins positioning & scores. Phenomenal.

Del Mastro is comically good. I say it every game, but what a treat it is to watch him. Dillingham didn't miss a beat. Was a beast. Destroyedddd Sapovaliv in the 3rd. Ritchie was great as always.

Mast I am worried about. Not cause he struggled, he didn't. But he hurt his shoulder in G5 vs GUE & today he went to the bench holding it & I say this admitting I am no good at lip reading but I swear he said "my shoulder keeps popping out" & he was in a lot of pains a few times. Battling thru it..

I've been whining a lot but helluva officiated game. Let them play & were consistent.

Gaudreau is Mr. Game 1 I guess! He was outstanding. Thought we did a good job keeping them out of his face, but rebound control, anticipation were on fire. That's the Benny we need.

Onto G2, hopefully with no more sick bodies..

Very good third. Need that effort for a full 60 consistently. Need to start moving pucks quicker and shooting them on net much quicker, if we get past saginaw London won’t let us take our time with the puck, they play sooo fast and don’t give you any time or space. Big reason they are having soo much success in playoffs.

I'm gonna give some benefit of the doubt that a few guys aren't 100%, but you are right. To many lapses in intensity at times. Weren't moving their feet at all in the 2nd. 1st & 3rd especially were good if not great.

That's 4 straight games vs SAG where they can't generate much. Only way they will is if we let them by being sloppy, lazy, undisciplined. They did not like our physical play at all in the 3rd. Anderson & Filak were really letting them know that, too. Gotta keep that up.

Dillingham stopping that partial breakaway by wrapping around the guy and getting the puck was huge, and only overshadowed by the huge hit he laid afterwards. I'm not sure he doesn't save a goal on that backcheck.

Very happy with this game, keep it on to game 2!

Sikic had his entire forehead wrapped in a bandage today. No clue what happened there, but goddamn this team has had some rotten luck lately.

This is a favourable matchup for Sarnia to have considering the injuries/sicknesses. Not necessarily a huge deal that a guy or two are out of the lineup. Sarnia has been able to battle through the lineup changes and whatnot fairly consistently and still get the wins. We were slow until the 3rd imo. Totally different look in the third when we took over the game. Big props to Benny on another playoff shutout! He was fantastic tonight. The D played a very well executed game. Loved the big hits…sends a message no doubt. Top 2 lines struggled a fair amount for the exception of Filak. Voit seemed to be fighting it. Not sure if the ice was just bad but some rough bounces for him. Bottom 6 were all fantastic and really created a lot of energy and pressure on the ice.

I’m ok with these types of wins. I know we have more to offer but if we can keep doing this and get healthy at the same time then perfect. Would really like to see a PP goal soon though….

Probably the best deadline acquisition any team made this year. Outside of Maybe Brandt Clarke, Del Mastro might be the best defencemen in the OHL

Have noticed Legwand at the games in the playoffs. Sits with Seca. Much like me, when I watch a game alone he paces all around the box haha. Can tell he's really stressed out watching & that means he cares.

They've gotta be loving what they're seeing. City is absolutely buzzing for the team right now. Selling out every game, best atmospheres at games maybe ever, but at the very least the last 15 years.

50/50 every game is over 10K which is nuts. They sold out of the new drink on its first night which was a huge success.

They're trying to be opportunistic with the hype by advertising season tickets already & moving the early bird deal to May 12th instead of the usual June.

Have noticed a ton more college kids & younger kids in general. They've done a great job finding ways to get them to come. Sucks we'll be brutal the next 2 seasons, but city is showing they'll still hop on board if given a reason.

Won't lie I planned on not renewing my tickets even if they went all the way, but these last couple months have really reminded me why I fell in love with this team & league. Been a blast.

I completely agree. I thought the guys were slow until the third. I thought the 4th line was good all night. I just think they need to be much quicker to loose pucks and when they have the puck they need to find away to get to the inside in the opposing teams end, yes having posed is nice but they just pass it around the outside then they will try and pass through traffic and it get intercepted. They need to skate it in to the centre of the ice And shoot! Filak goal was a prime example of playoff hockey, filak hustles and beats the guy then gets rewarded out front with a goal. Need more hardworking plays like that. Del bel belluz has to be the softest guy on the team. He needs to be more willing to atleast use his body to separate guys from the puck or lean on guys he kinda just floats until the puck comes to him. Need more from him. Gaudreau looked solid yesterday, nice to see.

Whatever happened to Hoover?
Battled injuries on and off all year. I believe mostly concussion related. Possibly back this round.

Ya he’s a beast out there that’s for sure.

The Sting management must know they are going to be junk the next two years. But seeing the support from the city the last few months they know they must find away to make the team competitive the next two seasons. Possible they do everything in their power to get more American prospects over the next two seasons to make this team a middle of the pack team. If they can find away to get this team to finish between 4-7 next season that would be huge because the fan base would think wow this club has turned it around and we might get good hockey most seasons. Hopefully they are showing US kids the new dressing room area and having them at the games right now.

Perfect playoff game. Start by keeping the puck out of your own net. First two goals a result of winning puck battles and guys going to the front of the net. Stayed out of the penalty box.
Kind of boring, compared to some of the slick stuff we’ve seen this team do, but I’ll take 3 more of those type of games in the next week.
5 wins - 11 to go.

We always gas up his hits, but how good has Dillingham become in his all around game. Much like Burke his skating has come a LONG way since his first 2 years.

I thought he'd be no more than a 6th D. He's one of the better defensive defenceman the league has & is the league's best hitter. This shift last night was incredible. Catch SAGs best player, perfectly defend it then flatten him before crushing Loukas their 2nd best F.

He's a tremendous captain, too. Have heard it & from interviews with guys like Pastujov/DBB/Del Mastro he really sets a tone in the room. They interviewed 77 last night & he was very complementary of him & his leadership which says a lot.

Pretty rare u see all 3 OAs sort of develop the same. As 17-18 yr olds they looked like depth guys & maybe ones u move off. As 19&20 yr olds they are major pieces to the core of the team. Testament to their leadership & willingness to improve.
