Very happy with that result. I think FLT was a worse matchup. But in saying that I was incredibly impressed with how SAG played in that series.

IMO they were the better team for a majority of it. They dominated puck possession for long stretches. Defense is VERY active & aggressive. Lennox was excellent.

Why I like how we matchup: 5 of their T6 Fs are below 6 feet. Not one weighs 180 pounds of the 5.

Their bottom-6 contributed absolutely nothing in that series & for most of the season.

Their defence while bigger than their Fs is not an overly strong bunch. By that I mean in corners/boards/in front etc. It's more so a skating/transition Dcore.

Very young team. Saw that with their inability to hold a lead in the latter half of the series. A lot of their best players are only 16/17/18.

Solid special teams all yr so we gotta be better on the PP. Lennox as mentioned was great. Top-6 had a phenomenal series. Smith & Parekh are very dynamic from the backend.

Saginaw blows a 3-1 lead but recover to win game 7.

Spirit vs Sting. Let's go.
Went to the game. I’m very happy not to be going up against Lombardi. IMO, he’s the best offensive player in the OHL right now.
Saginaw difference maker is definitely Lennox. He has the ability to steal one or two but hopefully not 4. Except for Smith, who is a very good defenseman, the rest of their D was chaotic in their own end. I believe they can be forechecked.
Gonna be pretty much the same story… if Sting move their feet and play their system, good things will likely happen. Gaudreau will need to be steady. Will be nice having Dillingham back.

Completely agree. I think it's a far more manageable series with Ritchie out, too. FLTs depth at least on paper was far more threatening with guys like Dann, Kressler, Pitre, Hay. SAGs guys definitely aren't bad but they seem to be a bit more on the 2way side than offensive.

Won't be as scary having Young, Fischer out there vs them. In the final few meetings SAG had 0 success doing much of anything vs our D. Obviously, though playoffs are a different animal.

I like it alot for our Fs, too because SAG doesn't play a real rough, tough, structured system. Should be some open ice for them to get their offensive game back on track.

I've underestimated SAG all yr can't no longer. They looked strong vs FLT. Should be a fun series with a real good pace to it.

Time to make some (Sting) history.

Hadn’t expected to have home ice “advantage” in round 2. Thank you KIT/ WSR. As seen last night, it’s a big deal if series goes 7.

Intrigued to see what lines they go with in G1. I'd personally go back to the lines they used down the stretch & in G1 vs Guelph.

Think that gave us the best all around scoring depth. 12-93-22 had a great series, too. Especially Wainwright who imo played his best OHL hockey in those 6 games. Think they could really have there way vs SAGs bottom-6.

Can't fault them if they stay with G6s lines, but I can't say I'm as confident in a L3 of 12-11-15 line producing consistently.

Was very happy with how our 4th line played. Chipped in 4 goals, 5 Assists & as a line went +5. Way was just terrific on the PK winning draws, clearing pucks etc.

On D without Ritchie it'll be an interesting decision, too. They don't wanna do Fischer-Young together. So maybe 77-61 // 13-18 // 3-5

After just 1 day there are only 200 tickets left for Game 1. I genuinely can not remember the last time tickets were going like this here. Been since at least February, too.

Been so awesome & refreshing to see. City has totally bought into the team.

Friday is going to be electric.

I'm guessing there's going to be an above-average chunk of Saginaw fans coming down as well. It's an easy drive and the excitement of the (unexpected) success of the team this year combined with the Memorial Cup announcement has created a TON of excitement here as well. Still not going to be a ton of Saginaw fans but it will be more than you would expect. It will be interesting to see how many of you come up for the games in Saginaw...Flint fans filled the building for sure but that's an even quicker drive with no border crossing. It was REALLY fun to have the building filled up every night with great playoff action.

I'd love to check out the Dow, but I can't make it work on a Tuesday or Thursday night.
(and you'll be put out before the Sunday game)

There's a fan bus going down for game 4. Sting fans traveled well to GUE for all 3 games so I'd expect the same.

Went to the last meeting in SAG with Sarnia & outside the bus delay & 9PM start it was a good time. Glad u guys got the mem cup. Well deserved.

I already have my tickets for games 3&4. Sitting among my Saginaw season ticket holder buddies (actually staying overnight on Tue/Thu with them). Hope to be able to walk out of there on Friday morning with a big grin on my face.

Safe to say there has never been a better opportunity for this team to get to the final-4. Saginaw is a solid team, but they sold off for next yr. When we've made it to RD2 prior we've faced some really great teams (fricken Kitchener!) That also went all-in.

It'll be a fight, but this series is ours to be had. Better on paper everywhere. Set the tone Friday just like they did with GUE, except don't get carried away with the penalties & don't take your foot off the gas.

Lets all have some fun, too. Been to long & far to infrequent that we've been in this spot.

Two seriously great OHL cities. Agreed on the Memorial Cup love to see it moved around a bit to continue to develop league interest. I used to travel throughout South Western Ontario a lot for my employment. Always enjoyed Sarnia, I guess it's the historical blue collar nature of the city that draws criticism (?) but I enjoyed it. Loved taking the motorcycle ride from Sarnia to Wallaceburg along the water! Cheers
