With Mcabe as the 2LD, Sandin didn't really have a path here.

I also think Gustavsson is flipped for a 2nd or 3rd, which would be very good value for Ras

Don't hate the trade by any means, but if the Russian Machine truly never breaks then I see Sandin thriving if they ever try him on PP1. He's a smart player especially on the power play with an underrated shot.

He's a cool player, really hope he succeeds on the new team

Gustafsson is a good return for the short term...or perhaps for a bit longer than that? Can't complain about getting back even a late 1st either. Definitely have to hope that McCabe is part of the longer term answer on that left side now though. Although his upward trajectory was blocked at LD and on the PP, Sandin is still a tough loss to absorb.

Why acquiring Gustafsson will reflect poor for Maple Leafs | Kyper and Bourne

2:13 | February 28, 2023

Nick Kypreos and Justin Bourne discuss the Maple Leafs trade that sent Rasmus Sandin to the Washington Capitals for Erik Gustafsson, and why it could be a mistake in long-term.

Ugh. Bourne and Kypper shitting on a Leaf move?

Say it isn't so.

Water is wet.

Dumbass strikes again
Don't be so down on yourself.

No complaints about this move. Move makes sense for both teams. Glad to get a first round pick back along with Gustaffson for Sandin. Sandin was now pushed further down the depth chart after the acquisition of Jake McCabe. Wish him well with the Capitals.
With Orlov gone it seems Capitals are throwing in white towel. Did Ovi ever missed postseason? Looks good on him.

Not sure how I feel about this. Sandin is one of the best 3rd pairing defenceman that looked really good in a top 4 this role when given the chance, but with McCabe there is just no room for the next couple years. Worst part is holl playing in the playoffs again

Holl won't be playing in the playoffs.

Excellent recoup of a 1st round pick, and a quality situation player in return as well.

Sandin was going to be lost in arbitration anyways so its a bug capitalisation while his value is high.

Sandin was redundant after the pick ups his foot speed has decreased season by season and until he adjusts he will keep being blown by . The fact they got as much they did should speak volumes.

Good job on dubas and co should shut lots of flapping mouths and gave us one hell of a tune up to the team

There's no way Carlson won't be the #1 on the PP.
