I feel sorry for him. He and his children should have been set for life, but with the way things are going he's going throw it all away.

If the sharks could free up Kane's cap space through dismissal from the league, they would have the cap space to make a play for Eichel.

I think that when you are a hockey player scoring 22G + 27A = 47P in 56GP in the previous season and 264G + 242A = 506P in 769GP total NHL GP you are a very important asset at only 30 years old. If the San Jose Sharks feel like trading away a very nicely producing top forward like Evander Kane (scoring 22G + 27A = 47P in 56GP in the previous season and 264G + 242A = 506P in 769GP total NHL GP) the return should be overwhelmingly great.

If it wasn’t for the off ice issues, this guy would be absolute weapon on any team tbh, effort is always there, he produces well, and passes the eye test with flying colors, very versatile and effective player all around.

If you look at it in a vacuum and refuse to acknowledge all the surrounding drama with Kane, sure...

He’s tied himself to some anchors in his young life. I hope some of the claims are false and he can still play some hockey. It’s too bad his “teammates” wouldn’t support him during this time where no hard evidence has been given.
Wait, you're dogging his teammates, who know far more about the situation than you do, because they haven't responded the way that you would based on the little bit that you know (which paints him out to be a piece of shit, to be honest)?

I hope this is sarcasm

Guy was almost a ppg player last year. I definitely don't think he was throwing games. Yeah, he's a dbag no doubt, but the only reason the Sharks are trying to ditch the guy is because he's putting a dent in their chance at a lottery pick.

So following your point. You have a best hockey coach in the world, he has won 3 olympic gold medals, 4 stanley cups, what ever other individual awards...but now he's 65, retiring and wants to do something nice, coach a young girls hockey team.

Follow me still ? But it has come thru allegations that this fine gentleman likes young girls, in a way that a man of his age shouldn't. I guess you would be paying that man 10m a year to coach your 10 years old girl's hockey team right ?

Unless he is cleared of the allegations (which might be difficult to prove, by the way), the Sharks will only get zero value since Kane might be banned eventually. After being cleared, he might be interesting for either a) a team in a fledgling market where "drama" helps to make the team more relevant (like Arizona) or b) for a cup starved franchise with a hard-core fan fanbase, which would appreciate his style of play (like Edmonton or Philadelphia).

What a bunch of fools the NHL and most of its fans are.

I would take Kane on thr Habs in a heartbeat. I dont give the slightest of Fs what he does at home. Just like it doesnt change anything hockey wise what Mailloux did or any other hockey player.

A players personal life choices should not impact his career. If he prefers to gamble and party and ignore his wife, than so be it. Is he a douche bag ? Yes. Does it make him any less of a hockey player? No.

Lose the moral shtick guys

Okay. Imagine season 2020-21, game 7 against Leafs, Habs are trailing by 1 with 5 mins to go in 3rd period.

Kane has a wide open net but misses on purpose because he went to Casino de Montreal and bet 5k he would score less than 1 pts in the game. Habs lose the game and are eliminated from the playoffs. No cinderella run to meet Tampa in the finals.

I get your point, but it sounds like his teammates don’t want him there and not only was he gambling, he was possibly gambling for his own team to lose and throwing games? It’s different than what you said.

His buyout isn’t as bad as I assumed.

1.8 most seasons. Max of 4 for 1 season. I would probably just buy him out.

Im assuming he will be suspended pending investigation?

The sharks can’t be forced to take his cap hit I don’t think

As people have probably already stated, the Sharks should be stuck with him for the time being. There's no upside to trading for him right now, if ever after all of his controversies.
But if some org did however, what happens to the trade if he gets banned? Are the assets or the cap space spent just gone?
Cap space would probably be negated, but if you spent any more than just cap space to acquire him, you probably would still see the assets go.

You may not care as a fan but clearly the team and his teammates do. I know people forget about this in the context of professional sports, but this is their job. Why would anyone want a douchebag that they can't trust on their team at work?
