Before everybody starts panic panicking all you have to look at is at the Vegas Golden kinghts. They are using 2 goalies with virtually no name recognition and they are in first place in their division. All the leafs have to do is play a solid disciplined game plan and give whoever is in net a chance to win.

Exactly... if the leafs play the same exact way they played last night, they will survive....

Outside of penalty shot, How many shot from the slot leafs allowed last night? 3, 4? 5? If the team played that way by protecting their goalie and not like the first 10 game, they will survive

It feels like it was the 80's (probably the 90's, early 00's) since I saw an NHL goalie do a stand up pretzel like Samsonov did on that deke.

Wondering if we will hear an update on the severity of the injury today or if it is more likely to come tomorrow.

I’m no doctor but what I’m hoping to see is they realize it’s not a big injury as the swelling or whatever subsides. Usually that’s your “phew” moment after a random injury like this.

The samsonov injury was a byproduct of a shitty referee call on John Tavares i seen worst slashes not get called but some reason the referees seem to have a agenda against toronto.

What? No that’s a byproduct of our defense continually letting guys just walk in untouched

So, if Samsonov has a grade 1 knee sprain and out for 2 weeks, is Dubas going to stick with a couple of rookies in net?

I'm not going to assume that we can rely on Matt Murray at this stage!!!

Why not ask for SJ for Reimer. A 3rd or 4th round draft pick should suffice, might even be an over payment.

If it’s short term I’d just stick with Kallgren and Petruzzelli. Let the team show some resilience and play tight D in front of their goalies.

We made our bed with these two. Let them run with it. Let's see what these guys are made off.

Judging by Murray track record its clear one of these two will be needed much more down the road. Let them get baptized

A sore knee can linger and is easily re-injured. Some insurance in net might be a smart move.

He will probably have to rely on a couple of rookies and as far as Murray goes I doubt he will play 10 games this year……..

Maybe this is a good test for the team to play a tight survival mode game for 2 weeks? Please protect Kallgren and Petruzzelli with your most responsible hockey, take it on as a fresh challenge.

In some ways, they did this when Freddie Andersen went down with an injury in 2021. They played pretty well in the North Division and really protected Jack Campbell for a time, allowing him to flourish and take the number one job.
