So, if Samsonov has a grade 1 knee sprain and out for 2 weeks, is Dubas going to stick with a couple of rookies in net?

I'm not going to assume that we can rely on Matt Murray at this stage!!!

Why not ask for SJ for Reimer. A 3rd or 4th round draft pick should suffice, might even be an over payment.

I suspect they don't think it's worth paying the pick. Case and point last night.

If they need a guy for the rest of the season, it's another story.

Yeah, I think they bridge the next couple of weeks with Kallgren, maybe a Petruzelli cameo and try to get some reps in with Murray. By then hopefully Samsonov is back to full health and can resume his march to the starter's job.

No chance Murray is ever healthy. And if he’s getting close, I’m sure someone will run him over in practice to make sure.
Murray will be ready to return at some point. You and many others may think he won’t be for long but that doesn’t change the fact they he will make a return to the lineup even if it’s only temporary. And at that point you have to waive the guy you just gave up assets for as an insurance plan.

It makes no sense right now. Maybe later in the season.

Oh don’t get me wrong, this was a completely terrible move by Dubas, and I’m sure at some point he will be forced to acquire another goalie

The doctors who post here will be able to explain it.

Agreed. If it's just a couple weeks, no need to make a move in the short term.

Every year it's the same story. Andersen/Campbell then Campbell/Mrazek get hurt. The collective here says we are screwed, some claiming we will never win a game with Hutchinson/Woll/Kallgren in net. In the end, while they have stinkers here and there, the team does more than tread water with these guys in the short term.

I stumbled across this article that has an idea on how the Leafs could solve their goaltending problems. Man I love the Toronto Sports media, I can only wonder what else I've missed out while not paying any attention to them? :biglaugh::biglaugh:

I am not a MD but I will be the first to report that reading the MRI confirms that the lower body injury in fact is KNEE related.

All kidding aside it was reported to be the left knee. When I watched the replay a couple of times it was the right knee that initially buckled forcing an awkward landing with the left knee comprimised.

I have done 2 ACLs and the right knee buckled like an ACL pop. Just a certain type of rotation.

Hopefully this will all be left knee related.

Samsonov "week to week" per Keefe. Honestly all that means is he's not going to be ready in the next few days, which isn't really news since he's on IR until at least next week.

Was on the ice skating before practice today.

Lazy journalism at it's finest. How can anyone take that article seriously?

I wonder if the writer gets paid for that trash.
I could blast off a 100 of those senseless articles every day. At $10 each that's a cool K a day.

Sportsnet said samsonov was skating and working with goalie coach. My guess samsonov is probably back in 2 to 3 weeks we are still early in season and there is no reason to rush the process especially when we had mrazek last he came back too and reinjured his groin

Whats worst getting Murray or playing jack Campbell 5 million for a 4.2 goals against average
