Sticking your leg out at the last minute when a play changes direction is not a dirty play. It happens all the time.
Subban did not slewfoot Blais. He did slewfoot Reaves.
Subban did not slewfoot Blais. He did slewfoot Reaves.
Subban's weight should be on his right foot as he goes into the boards. He needs that to stop correctly and to quickly accelerate up ice should he find the puck on his stick. There is absolutely no reason for all of his weight to be on his left foot. He decided to put all his weight on his left foot and swing his right foot out to impede Blais. Call it what you want but it's a very dirty play and definitely intentionalSticking your leg out at the last minute when a play changes direction is not a dirty play. It happens all the time.

But who skates into a corner with their legs like that?Sticking your leg out at the last minute when a play changes direction is not a dirty play. It happens all the time.

A guy trying to trip or impede the opponentBut who skates into a corner with their legs like that?
I hated guys that did that with their skates. I knew a guy like that. Never seemed on purpose (according to him) but was always the same guy.The now almost to be expected Subban kicking his skates out from under him in the corner. In two months he’s done Reaves, Lucic, Zegras (he got fined that time) and Blais.
Bingo.A guy trying to trip or impede the opponent
he's well past getting the benefit of the doubtSticking your leg out at the last minute when a play changes direction is not a dirty play. It happens all the time.

How many times has Subban gone into a corner battle and be the sole player to come out with both knees intact? Call it a slewfoot. Don’t call it a slewfoot. But it’s a play he’s done several times to several players that has led to injury.

Some of the conspiracy theories here are precious. Just precious.
It was a hockey play and an accident.
The pain was my sliver of hope for Sammy. Usually when it’s a ligament there’s not so much pain. A bad knee sprain or a fracture would be more painful. As I understand it. No good scenarios but just grasping.I'm not optimistic. Legs shouldn't bend this way and it's not often you can actually hear a guy screaming in pain through the broadcast.

Yep. With Subban - I said it with Reaves too - he’s dangerous. No one in their right mind would intend to injure a fellow pro, but in the heat of the match this particular guy has a bad habit of using his giant legs to impede opponents. And around the boards that’s particularly dangerous.Exactly. Accidental or not, Subban has developed a habit of sticking his leg in when he’s been beaten in the corner, to slow his opponent down. 4 times this season it’s resulted in injuries. He’s probably done it other times that weren’t noticed because either they didn’t cause an issue or because they didn’t make contact, but clearly he has developed a habit of sticking his foot out. That’s not a conspiracy.

I do think the team’s silence at this point is worrisome though. It's impossible to tell just from reactions.
Reaves looked like he would never walk again and didn't miss a game. Shesty looked bad last year and it wasn't that bad.
Meanwhile, when Virgil van Dijk got hurt for Liverpool last year, he walked off under his own power only for the team to basically report that his knee is string cheese and confirm that he wouldn't play again the entire season.
I twisted my ankle once and thought I was gonna die but I was fine in ten days. My dad tore his hamstring coming home from work and just kept walking. Didn't know anything was wrong until his whole leg was purple.
So yeah, sometimes the more minor stuff looks visually worse.
Thats what I saw. He would have gotten beat by a spin, he goes wide to catch them as hes getting schooled. And soon following is that "innocent Erkel look" accompanied with; "did I do thaaaat"?No. It's not an accident when Subban consistently goes in wide legged and catches the opponents legs from behind. It's the same thing as the old kneeing from upfront that was a plague for a while, but thankfully has almost disappeared now because players know better than to hunt the knees of opponents. Slubban can't keep up so he goes in low and wide and catches his opponents dangerously. Because he can't keep up he sticks out his leg to catch them. That's what's going on. He'll injure more players this season if this goes on.

Yes although that's also very hit or miss and even more random.I do think the team’s silence at this point is worrisome though.
Yeah. In certain cases they might be like ‘it’s nothing so we didn’t mention it’. But I think we know that this was something. Anyhow I’m resigning myself to Blais out for the season and hoping he’s ok for next season. What a shame. He is a very nice player.Yes although that's also very hit or miss and even more random.
