While this is VERYtrue it has much more to do with the fact that we have a game tonight and in the NFL the player is done for a week anyway.

It’s BS gamesmanship but it’s just the way the NHL is. “Lower Body” “Upper body” etc
Players play through injuries at times… it’s intentionally vague & especially in this instance, unnecessary.
They may not actually know 100 percent what it is yet, if there is a tremendous amount of swelling they may have needed to wait for it to come down or may need multiple mri's. We just need to have some patience

I would be really proud of the Rangers if they make Subban fight twice in the first period next game. Any other Devil’s that wanna get beat up so be it.

Any chance he can come back for playoffs? Tryna rock the jersey @Loki Dog 74 got for me

Pics or it didn’t happen :sarcasm:

It sounds like the playoffs would be ahead of schedule for him, but who knows, depending on how far we can get. I have little doubt we will qualify and retain him this off season though. Timing on that one was unfortunate, huh?

Hope so. I’m not expecting it but he’d be a welcome return. Actually when I saw this thread bumped I got a little hopeful.
Drury has to resign him now being the main part of the Buch trade ...OTOH Blais agent could possibly leverage that against Drury . If he walks away elsewhere Drury will really get ripped ....especially if Blais has a good season somewhere else . Blais likely gets a small raise and stays . I hope so....I liked what he showed in his brief appearance .

not sure what you think might happen with Blais
he is RFA, NYR will QO him
i doubt he signs in Europe.
IF he signs an offer sheet, NYR can choose between terms or compensation

Yeah, Blais really has no leverage, especially coming off major injury. Europe is the only leverage but I really doubt he'd go overseas. He'll take his QO and that will be that.

If our team makes the QO ...is he not allowed to still sign an OS and the Rangers can match then or take the Compensation ? I don't think the compensation was very much....some GM might see more value in Blais then many fans on here and might pay him 2 million ? Will Rangers pay him 2 Million or take the compensation....what would Drury do ? Drury traded for him....Drury traded a good player for him . The pressure is on Drury to bring him back to establish the rational on the initial trade one would think.....and he is also a different dynamic for our top 9 ....an important dynamic I think .
@cwede ... you made a good point...slim to none chance he gets an OS from anyone for that small amount and thus no leverage other than his QO....

Hey, Sammy would be perfect in a fast paced physical game like this vs Pittsburgh. Idc how many goals Buch has, the Rangers have guys who can score. In these playoff atmosphere type games, I can see why Drury wanted Blais. However, I think he had injury problems in St. Louis. But I agree. He likely gets the same amount of money on a one or two year contract (maybe a bridge deal, idk). If he can prove he can stay healthy, the Rangers get a physical, in your face player with skill, who can move up and down the lineup, at a relatively cheap cap hit, for years.

Wish we had Sammy Blais in the lineup banging bodies
He has a lifetime of banging bodies and getting injured. Just not this severely.
Sammy Blais in a nutshell:
1) banging bodies banging bodies banging bodies banging bodies banging bodies banging bodies
2) getting injured getting injured getting injured getting injured
3) making that highlight reel move

Honestly I wish we had more actual top6 players in our lineup.

if we could somehow make it to the ECF and Sammy is healthy and available it would be the difference maker in the depth dept and could tilt the scale in our favor
I would be concerned about if he is anywhere close to form by that point. Missed a whole season, probably limited opportunities to work out the last several months, timing will be off, and who knows how his knee is impacted post recovery. Feels like throwing him out there in the middle of the playoffs when he hasn't played a competitive game since November is a bit risky.

Same. Though that was Laf, Kakko, Chytil, and Kravtsov’s assignment, not Blais’s.

With the cap trades can not be looked at as only player for player. The cap and situations have to be looked at. I understand why people wanted more for Buch but I would not rip Drury over a 2nd round pick and solid checker before injury. Drury saw the big picture including Fox and Shesty contracts as well as changing the team dynamics. We were soft and missed the playoffs for years. If Drury could hav e gotten a better deal from another team I assume he would have taken it. It was no secret that Buch was available. I would have liked McDavid or Mathews but ......

fACTS dude!

Imagining our lineup with Blais in over McKegg. Just one player could make a really big impact on the lineup. Of course Buch in over McKegg would be a meteoric impact.

Right! Of course Zuccarello, J.T. Miller, Duclair, Hayes, Frank Boucher, Andy Bathgate, Rod Gilbert, Mike Gartner, and Bill Cook in over McKegg would be a meteoric impact. Like Buch, it's too bad these guys weren't still around as well.
