I feel justified with my concerns about the D heading into this season.
For sure. But team D(the way we give so much open space) as well. And of course goaltending is a question mark too. I feel like another season of winning many games 7-6 here.

Same old team. Just lost to the worst team in the league last season.

Not much from the core 4, and NOTHING from any of the support cast at all !!!

Change the deck chairs all you want, this ship is STILL sinking.

Team seemed out of sync all night, terrible puck movement. Hawks clogged everything up.

First time seeing Bedard live. Didn’t leave me overly impressed, maybe my expectations were too high.

Domi is terrible.

Didn't watch the entire game but the first we looked really messy.

We have one goal from bottom 6 I believe in 3 games or even just 1 point. Need to see more sustained pressure from bottom 6

Defence though looks like a train wreck. A lot of question marks

What were the normal pages for a PGT? It seems this year there aren’t as many people posting in them.

How did Bedard look live?
Didn’t really stand out. Seemed to fall down a lot Talent is obviously there but he’s not a McDavid/Matthews type rookie where they are the best guys on the ice from day one. It’s going to take him a bit to get there I think.

David Kampf has been so bad. He’s completely sinking that line and that’s concerning with that contract.

So because Chicago was shit last season it should be an automatic win? Chicago is a way better team than last year and they are fast as hell, they might be a wild card team.

That being said it’s the little mistakes that still kill this group. I don’t know what it’s going to take to see them eliminate that part of their game. Also we need better from both goaltenders period.

IMO I think Bedard will have a similar trajectory to MacKinnon. Slower start, trying to figure out and then exploding once he physically and mentally matures.

The first 10 games of the season don't give you much to evaluate. Just flush it down the toilet like pre-season.

Not good enough. Bottom 6 is bad. The 3rd line is young so won't harp on them except Domi. 4th line isn't much better but we decided it was fine to pay over 1 million for fights, and Kampf is one dimensional.
On defence, we have seen the good and bad of Klingberg in 3 games. Brodie's been hit and miss. McCabe is a mess. Gio is aging but don't think he's been bad. Rielly and Liljegren have been good.
Goalies aren't helping either.
Matthews and Nylander are carrying the team so far. Marner is his usual slow starter self. Bertuzzi needs to be better. There should more criticism on him.

This franchise really favors Marner too much.

They favour Marner too much? That couldn’t be farther from the truth. The only reason why his minutes are so high is because he eats up a ton of PK minutes. Im okay with reducing it but is Matthews and/or Nylander ready to step up and eat some of those minutes and provide better or the same quality? Im not sure.

That’s cause half the city was at home working today with the go train service to union shit down! 401 was pretty empty after work today too.
I don’t go near the 401. Front to Spadina, Gardiner to QEW. Going home is always easy, coming in can be a chore at times but not today.

I think the trains were working from the west.

I live in the east and work in Scarborough so I gotta go through traffic, unavoidable. I always said if they could figure a way to get a road way along the lakeshore that would be ideal. There’s really only two ways to get downtown from the east side. Kingston road or the DVP and both are clogged daily haha

DVP is the worst for sure. I technically work from home but I need to get out or I'll go nuts. Short drive for me over the Leaside bridge to Donlands.

Also forgot to add, bedard was pretty good. He had the post on the pp, he had the dash against klingberg, he had a few other looks. The puck didn’t go in, but I thought he looked very good; especially compared to the last couple of 1st overall picks
I looked good, sucking back a few tall boys with my matthews jersey on..

I just moved back east after living in North York by Fairview Mall. My drive on the DVP wasn’t so bad then, especially when I’d go to raptors or leafs games. Quick 30 minute but coming from the east again, it’s death. Just sucks the city wasn’t built with much foresight into potential population growth.

Still feels like pre season, I figure the first 10 games will feel like that and team's will start to pick it up. In Toronto case, up to date we have been sloppy with our puck management and d-zone coverage. We knew what we were getting with Klingberg, but Brodie and McCabe have not played up to expectations.

Maybe some line juggling will be in order, especially in our bottom 6, there's lots of combinations you can try to make the 3rd line more effective.

They absolutely favor him too much. I'm not talking about the mins either. Anyways no point discussing this.
