Team can't score and Matthews-Marner are not broken to get a different look. Same shit every freakin' year from the same coach.

one has to learn sometime right?

Complete JOKE!

habs series, bolts series (the one we lost) and the panthers series is still pretty fresh in my mind.

when the F is the coach going to effing learn?
Better question is why do we have a coach learning on the job?

Klingberg was a disaster when we were 6-5 - just a total f-up and Liljegren would be a much better option there.

Watch Vegas play then look at this team. Lots of fun to watch on most nights, but probably still not cup ready.

Mediocre goaltending, regressed D-core, shit depth and a forward group that is a lot worse at defence than the one we went into last playoffs with. And cap strapped for the next 2 seasons...

Matthews and Nylander were both very good.

Tavares, Rielly, and Woll played well.

The rest were quite bad.

On to the next. Talent is there. New pieces are settling in. We will be fine.

Any decent team/coach puts rookies with veterans to help them gain confidence; the jackass we have has Knies-Minten going against NHL caliber players every night. They will lose their confidence this way. Its not the right way to develop young players who are not drafted as stars.

I really feel bad for the both the kids

I thought maybe this year would be our Boston year from last season, where they actually cared every single night and we cruised all season. That part of me is dead now. I was so young then, foolish.

Another year of just being a very good regular season team instead of a truly dominant one I guess.

Willy and Matty showed up, not many others.

It made no sense. Willy and Auston were just going off and we don't throw them together? Just so confusing Keefe

Matthews had 25, Nylander had 21...

They all got played a lot... it is almost like 2 of those three play on the PK.

We're just as top heavy as we've ever been. Knies needs to be playing with Matthews or Tavares, not another rookie. We should have had Nylander taking 3C reps in exhibition games, now he'll be figuring it out during the regular season when Minten inevitably gets sent down. Keefe rushed back to his stacked top 6 safety net after one bad preseason game. Insane.

Oh well. It's early I guess.

matthews and marner were absolutely crapping teh bed against the bolts last year in the playoffs; he swapped them with matthews-nylander and tavares-marner and leafs got a win in the series

then for no f***ing reason he started with matthews-marner in the series against the panthers and stuck with them eventhough leafs couldn't do much offensively

it baffles me the kind of thickheaded one has to be as a coach.

There goes the offensive support. :(

However, shifting focus to the bright side at least shows that they've continued to concede less (with the goalie in the net).

This is what Matthews and Marner want, and Keefe has demonstrated time and again that he doesn't want to upset them. In any case, Marner is a notorious slow starter and I imagine we'll all be singing his praises again in a month.
