I blame you for his hideous play, suggesting he would have a good game so early in the day.
Always seen him as the guy HuGo wanted to keep so we can tank properly.
Now we want a #1 out of him.. he will never be that.. as always we love overrating our Habs.

Now that everyone is off the bandwagon, let’s look at what Monty actually is: a 1B Goalie at best.
Monty’s best professional save % season is 0.903 (this past season).
Over his entire career, he’s been in large majority under .900.
When you account for his entire career including juniors, he was over .900 only 4 of 12 seasons, His best ever being in his last LHJMQ season with .907. He’s never been dominant at any level.
Another stat: He’s NEVER been under 3.00 GAA in his entire professional career with the exception of one short 13 game AHL stint where he was 2.86 but with a 0.898.
I like Monty and I think he can he is a valuable asset in the right chair (1B at best, playing 30-35 games on a competitive team). But when you look at his track record, it’s unrealistic to think he can suddenly consistently hit top goalie numbers when he hasn’t the guy at any level.

He is what he is. A placeholder for one of the drafted goaltender prospects to take over. That's why they've drafted 4 goalies in the last 2 years.

Ends at the same time as the other Bergevin leftover crap contracts (Anderson, Gallagher), so no biggie.

I think Monty gets a lot of flack right now which is undeserved. The team is playing like complete dogshit in front of him. Monty was one of the leaders in quality starts % in last few years. He hasn't suddenly regressed

Always has been a placeholder , If anything Monty did good to secure himself a contract at 1B money , the team defense is atrocious he is basically a human sacrifice right now
Yes but I have seen him play way better. He has the bandwidth to up his game.

Low danger shots pad the save% stat for SJ and Pitts
Kraken goalies make 5-6M each so it's not comparable.
