Ryane Clowe

When Nash is 2nd in penalty minutes on your team, there is something wrong.

Don't worry, Ryane will soar up that board. Stupid penalties aside, you guys will really enjoy watching him play. His game's been on an upward trend recently, and he had a couple good scoring chances in his last game for us. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he goes on a hot streak coming down the stretch.

Looking forward to watching him play in a blueshirt.
My point was more about Asham not doing what he came here to do.

I've spent the past few hours trying to figure out how to pronounce his first name. No progress has been made. Stay tuned for updates.

Hoping he's extended while he still hasn't scored

Theres Clowe's contract.

I think Clowe had a few no goals but I'm not sure. It's gotta count for something right? :naughty:

Really wouldn't mind seeing a line of Clowe-Richie-Gaborik. Was reading that he was a solid 2nd liner in SJS so shouldn't be too farfetched. Averages about 16-17mins of ice time per game. If Clowe can make room for Gaborik/Richie to wheel and deal, Clowe's own lack of production can easily be overlooked.

Isn't it pronounced the same as Ryan but spelled differently?

Amazing how quick that user title of yours changed when you found out he'd resign ;)

The point of that mantra was that from all of the reports I heard, it sounded like over-payment. And for a player with 0 goals?

BUT, if we re-sign him and he becomes a Dubi+, I welcome him here.

And there goes a full NHL caliber, productive fourth line with a guy who scored 20 goals and a key PKEr, a fighter with a rocket for a shot, and a borderline 3rd/4th liner all for Ryan Clowe? Sorry man, we finally have the depth we need, not ready to get rid of our bottom 6 depth. If anyone goes, it's someone with a high salary for picks and ELC's.

I just came in to say that I doubt I'll ever get over losing Clowe. You guys picked up one helluva individual and my favorite Shark. He absolutely hates losing, a view I wish more of the Sharks shared.

And it's pronounced the same a Ryan, for those wondering.

That surely must be the plan ? If not, its a stupendous overpayment for him for 15 games.
They built this team to make a run this year. It's about 70-30 in favor of a buyout for Richards unless they get creative in the off-season. Gaborik has one year left.

A little bit of an overpayment, but Sather's played it conservatively since a year before the first lockout. He's going all-in, or at least a smart all-in. It's a deep draft and they've got a bunch of third rounders. I won't be shocked to see Pyatt or Boyle moved for picks before the deadline tomorrow.

Yeah, same here. The Rangers need a player like this desperately.

I think on the surface it's very easy for someone to say "Clowe has zero goals and the Rangers can't score...this makes no sense", but honestly, toughness and grit and "jam" is really what I think this team has missed. And depth. Clowe gives you that. I think our biggest loss this off-season was Prust.

I think Clowe can help spark the Rangers and the Rangers can help spark Clowe.

I think the possibility of Gaborik being traded at the draft is starting to rise with all the picks we're trading away. Allows him to finish out the season and see if he can rebound at all in these last few games+playoffs if we make it, if not maybe Sather can flip him for a top prospect+1st or whatever magic he would work out. I don't think we even pick until the 3rd/4th round this year as it stands?

Trust me, neither Richards nor Gaborik will be moved and both will be back with the team next year. Bear in mind that Gaborik(who's most likely playing injured) will be playing for a contract next year so he's bound to have a bounce back season.

id love to think so. except that pesky salary cap is there...and some good kids are in for raises.

Love this for the Rangers, at a glance anyway. At worst this will be a competitive player who will stick up for his teammates, hit and play hard...at best he will be an integral part of the offense and a huge piece of a long playoff run.

Sucks to lose a 2nd rounder(maybe 2) for him, esp. considering the laundry list of recent names this teams scouting has put on the ice for the Rangers. I have faith they will pick up a couple more picks before the draft though...and if out of those 2 2nd rounders only 1 turned out to be Clowe or better you would be ecstatic. If he gives the Rangers 3-4 solid, productive seasons it'll go down as a fantastic trade for the Rangers IMO.

Clowe will fit right in. He has zero goals. :sarcasm:

Jokes aside it's likely to be a good trade. He's Lucic lite when he's on his game.

He's not Lucic Lite, he plays a different style of game. He's an elite puck possession forward, one of the best on the boards. He doesn't stand in front of the net, most Sharks fans wanted to see him in that role but he didn't feel comfortable playing that style, he's better as a puck possession playmaker on the boards.

With that said he is tough like Lucic, he never takes a game off, he will fight anybody (had a draw with Parros IIRC, beat Iginla, beat Tootoo), he's great. A very rare blend and I'm legitimately sad that he was traded

i wouldnt read too much into his no goals at all. hes been injured a few games and for some reason he decided to be a coach for a team while in the lock out. im sure next season (if he sign for you guys) he'll get back into his groove. hes definetly a character guy and he will score the down and dirty type.

wish he could stay a shark but i think he just got too comfortable here and hes the type that needs a kick in the ass. looking forward to him shutting everyone up about his 0 goals.

I have no idea what to think at this point.

Do we have any picks left for this [deep?] draft ? ...

Anyhow if Clowe does good, I certainly won't complain ....

Awesome. This team has a problem making a play when coming off the board at times, seems like that's Clowe's bread and butter.

The guy is a beast. One of the best fighters in the league, great personality, warrior, has skill.

The guy is more skilled than Lucic is. I just think Lucic is harder to play against because of his tenacity and power. Clowe can definitely put Milan in his place if those two tussle though. I'm VERY excited to have Ryane on this team, I'm just worried that he might leave after the season and re-sign in SJ with them. We would be screwed. Basically a 2nd round pick (Florida), SJ 2nd, and a conditional 2nd ( or 5th). I really hope we resign Clowe, he's exactly what we need. Come to think about it, I'm very happy, and he was EXACTLY what we needed, some emotion, some GRIT, someone who HATES to lose. This guy has the ability to change the whole attitude in this locker room.
